Our Rover Lab sofa is a big hit with guests. We replaced our wee sofa with a really nice big plush one so that families could really fully enjoy their stay in the most comfortable way.

Hospitality is a very difficult industry. Every guest expects perfection. There is very little you can do when something goes wrong you have a very fine margin of error and time to fix it.

I have managed holiday lets for 6 years now. I entered the market unexpectedly when my father became unwell and I had no choice but to look after him there was suddenly no question that the property I was in the middle of buying for myself would need to be an air b&b and not a home for me.

This property was also not intended to be a holiday let.. and yet it is. So I go above and beyond to try and resolve things for guests and ensure they have the holiday they imagined with their families.

The West Coast has lots of wonderful Islands to explore and Oban is often called the Gateway to the Hebrides for a reason. We have written quite a few FAQs and one of them is about how to get to the Islands.. and why and which Islands you should really visit..

Yesterday I was shown some videos of my friend's kids speeding across in some go carts along a 2 mile long sandy beach in Uist.. they're from Uist originally and knew all the best spots for me to make note of! Uist is an Island I've still not yet to get to but it's top top of my list.

If you want to explore more of Scotland's coast line (which when fully unravelled is so long it stretches all the way to Australia!) you can hop on the local ferry to go to the usual spots locally such as Mull etc which are nearby. Further afield Islands worth visiting might be Islay especially if you enjoy whisky.. I can recommend Lagavullin 👌🥃

If you're feeling really fancy or want to celebrate a special occasion why not take your own private boat ride guided by local companies in Oban, such as Hebrides Cruises who can take you anywhere around the islands you want to go.

We've recently replaced our tiny little boucle sofa with a sofa that seats the number of guests we accommodate! Finally! We have also opened up 'short stays' in June - meaning we used to only allow 7 night stays but since we have 50% of the month booked with longer stays we are now taking some shorter stays!

We have managed property for over 6 years now so we know how to maximise profit which is very important for this property in particular since it the main building has a lot of repairs to undertake to the exterior.

Can I tell you something I see all the time?

People don’t struggle to want a holiday…
They struggle to find the “right time.”

There’s always something:

Work.. (or a Job Hunt!)
Family. Community.
Plans. Deadlines.

So they look at the dates…and think:
“Maybe next month...”

And then next month comes… and something else is there. Sometimes it's "maybe next year"!

I was talking to someone recently who had already picked her holiday. Dates chosen. Bags are practically packed.

Then a new project came up at work. She felt needed… and almost cancelled.

Before she did, her friend asked her one question:
“Will the work still be there in five days?”

Of course it would.
“Would your team be okay?”
Also yes.

So she went 🦋

When she came back, she said something really simple:

“Everything was still there. I just felt better inside it.”

Same job. Same schedule. Same responsibilities.
