We have some exciting news to share with you...

We were very fortunate to be asked, to take part in a special project.

Last summer, we had the pleasure of hosting the team from Escape to the Country. They have chosen to feature our beautiful Shepherd's Hut on their program, airing today, Tuesday 11th, on BBC 1 at 3pm.

We're excited to watch and hope that you are too. Let us know what you think 😊

We have been overwhelmed by the lovely feedback that we have received within the 1st week of opening the gate of the campsite.

We have been very fortunate to have met some really lovely people, as well as welcoming returning guests, and enjoy listening to your experiences.

So far all seems to be a success, with a busy few days, this weekend, and we hope to see our campers return again, you'd be more than welcome.

This weekend sees lots of local events happening. We have The Dartmoor Folk Festival, entertaining us all weekend, in South Zeal. Today in Throwleigh, there is a wonderful Photograph Exhibition at Providence Chapel, opening from midday. The homemade cakes and teas are a real treat.
On Sunday, enjoy a relaxed afternoon, enjoying the delicious sunday teas at Gidleigh Church, 2.30 till 5pm

This weekends line up for The Folk Festival. We hope everyone has a great weekend 🍻🎻

It’s nearly upon us!! Dartmoor Folk Festival is this weekend! The beers are racked, the good weather has been ordered and we are ready to welcome one and all!! Join us in the pub, enjoy the festival events throughout the village, pop in for a drink at the Festival Bar, it’s always a great weekend 🎶 🪗 🎻 🎶

Good morning campers ⛺

A lovely sight to wake up to this morning. A herd of Dartmoor ponies, casually grazing and meandering outside the gate. A beautiful sight to see, one that sums up Dartmoor perfectly.

Dartmoor's iconic, heritage ponies, play a crucial role in maintaining Dartmoor's unique biodiversity.
Their grazing habits may seem destructive at first, however, they actually play a key role within the ecosystem.
As the ponies roam the moor, they trample and graze away dominant grasses, allowing other species to thrive. This creates a mosaic of habitats, of which, provide shelter and food for a diverse range of insects and birds.
The ponies grazing habits, also preserve the moors unique landscape, preventing it from becoming overgrown.

When you next spot a herd of wild ponies, take time to appreciate these wonderful ponies and the vital role they play in maintaining Dartmoor's unique character.

We've had a slight break in weather but looking forward to welcoming the sunshine back this weekend ☀️

Weekend Getaway 🌄

It's a beautiful day again here on Dartmoor. Such a pleasing sight to see some sunshine.

Beautiful scenery, surrounded by nature and utter tranquility. How would you like to wake up to this view.

The Dartmoor Charity Speed Shear is back!!!

After such a successful event in 2022, we're very much looking forward to the event this year, and would love you all to come along.

Plans are in full swing, making it a night to remember.
You will be entertained by world class shearers, who are you going to cheer for 🎉
The party continues, lead by The Wreckords, followed by a disco, get those dancing shoes on 💃🕺
There will be a raffle, with wonderful prizes up for grabs.

Our campsite gate will be opening from the 3rd of August 🏕️ If you fancy a country escape, this is the perfect spot for you.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Dartmoor, you can enjoy a casual stroll or a hike up onto Dartmoor to explore and discover.

If wild swimming is your thing, why not take a dip in a natural swimming pool, just a short walk from the campsite.

Or perhaps a pub lunch. We are very lucky to be surrounded with quaint, traditional village pubs.
