We were so pleased today to hand over a cheque for £300 to Emma and Nikki at South Tawton Primary School for funds raised during this year’s South Zeal Classic Car and Bike Show. A huge thanks to all our marshals and helpers on the weekend along with vehicles and owners who took part.

Great to see veterans Matt & Jo who called by last Friday 8th May to commemorate VE Day. ( now that's a "proper" 4WD ! They live just up the road with their wonderful business Solace in Devon . Hopefully they'll be back this weekend on the 16th and 17th of May for our South Zeal Classic Car & Bike Show.

3 – 4 mornings a week working in a small friendly team, will include some weekends, hours 9.00 – 12.00.

Work will include cleaning and tidying the hotel and restaurant public areas and our 4 Four Poster hotel rooms

You must have great attention to detail and work well in a fun team, you'll need energy and a keen eye for attention to detail, training can be given.

We are looking for 2 additional PART TIME Bar & Restaurant Waiting team members are required to join our front-of-house team at The Oxenham Arms Hotel South Zeal Okehampton Devon EX20 2JT

Hourly paid + paid holidays and gratuity scheme.

Part of a small very friendly team.

You will have great customer handling skills and be familiar with electronic till systems and delivering quality food and drink service in a pub or restaurant. This is not a live-in position you will need to live locally or have your own transport.

This is not just a "pulling pints" job. You will have had previous experience in table service and bar service in a busy pub / restaurant or bar

3, 4 or 5 shifts per week, some in the daytime and a one or two in the evenings.

We are over the moon to announce that The Oxenham Arms South Zeal Devon has just been awarded CAMRA's Pub of the Year for 2026 for the entire Okehampton and North Devon Region.

The award comes from customers who have visited us during 2025 and their individual votes under the CAMRA NBSS National Beer Scoring System. Our award came from over 1,400 scores that were submitted.

I was asked this morning how do we keep our beers so well, and I answered the truth which is apart from looking after em', I regularly go into the cellar and talk to em' :) In June 2026, I would have been talking to my beers every day for 5,110 days.

I was taught to look after ales by a wonderful Scotsman called Colin Chalmers, who when we bought The Oxenham Arms back in 2012 came down for 3 months and help us set up our cellar and to whom we will all owe our eternal gratitude. Colin had won the CAMRA West London award at his pub in Hanwell ( The Fox ) consecutively for fourteen year. But as he said, Real Ales are alive so you have to talk to them morning noon and night. So I do....

Now there are around 255 other pubs in our North Devon CAMRA region folks so please support as many as you can in these tough old times, even if its just buying a pint once a week to help em'out.
