The centre, built in 1811 as Boarshurst School. Saddleworth Outdoor Pursuits Association was formed around 1965 to promote and facilitate local outdoor activities, from walking and cycling to sailing and caving. It boasts a garden, dorms to sleep 32, a kitchen, communal rooms, laundry facilities and toilets and showers.
