Olney Allotments

Directions

Olney Allotments The Allotments Holders Association represent those who tend the plots on the site at Near Town Garden Feel free to come and see what we have created.

The Olney Allotments have been going since the late 1890's. The site is beautifully situated nestled beside lovely open green fields and is an ideal tranquil spot to garden, socialise, learn new skills and more importantly grow your own fruit and veg. The site has over 100 plots and more recently the new Community Allotment set up in November 2014, provides small growing areas for the less abled, or where a full size plot is too much. The Community Plot allotmenteers range from 12 - 80

If you are interested in having a small space on our Community Allotment for growing a few veg, flowers herbs etc, please post and we will get back to you. We have many experienced gardeners who are on hold with tips and advice, and also have talks, events and demonstrations. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the the donations. A BIG THANK YOU to all who have helped and supported us raising funds for the allotment. Derek Ferris for the Poly Tunnel frame

SEED SWAP SUNDAY 4th October 2pm to 4pm at the SEED SWAP SUNDAY COLUMN in the Milton Keynes Rose
The Olney Allotment Holders Association have been asked by Mr Chris Roberts the Chair of Trustees for the Milton Keynes Rose Charitable Trust to help inaugurate this annual community event at the Milton Keynes Rose, a beautiful community space in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes. The Milton Keynes Rose is made up of stone/marble columns, all marking annual events to be celebrated each year. To learn more about the Milton Keynes Rose and the many events it marks, click on this link: https://miltonkeynesrose.org.uk

This year SEED SWAP SUNDAY will be a small start up event with the Olney Allotment Holders Association and some friends who will set up a small table at the Milton Keynes Rose, next to the permanent "OCTOBER SEED SWAP SUNDAY" column.

This is simply what it says, "SEED SWAP". An opportunity for allotment holders and gardeners to meet up, swap seeds and chat. After this Sunday the plan is it will happen every first Sunday in October in the coming years. The hope is news of this year's small event will grow on social media and next year it will be a larger event with more people/groups involved.
Maybe you have collected some plant seeds and would like to share them on Sunday, if so, do please come along and join in.
Hopefully the idea will gather momentum for SEED SWAP SUNDAY in October 2027, that would be lovely.

A Call for Plants & Helpers for the OAHA Cherry Fair Stall!

We’re rebuilding our plant stocks for the Cherry Fair on Sunday 28 June, and we’d love your help. If you have any surplus plants, or even bundles of rhubarb (a big hit last year!), please drop them at the OAHA HQ on Saturday 27 June or early on the morning of the 28th.

We’re also collecting clean, unbroken seedling trays (6, 9 or 12‑bay). Please leave them on the table under the pergola at the HQ.

We’re looking for helpers on the day too. If you can spare an hour or two to set up, help sell, or pack down, here are the slots:

• 9am–12pm: Set up the stall
• 12–1pm: Selling
• 1–2pm: Selling
• 2–3pm: Selling
• 3–4pm: Selling
• From 4pm: Pack down and return items to the OAHA

Thank you for supporting your allotment community , every plant, tray and helping hand makes a difference 🌿

OAHA Plant Sale & Tool Bring‑and‑Buy – Thank You!

A huge thank‑you to everyone who came along to our plant sale and tool “bring & buy” over the last weekend of May. Both sunny days were wonderfully well attended, and we’re so grateful to everyone who grew plants, donated tools, helped on the day, and of course, everyone who made a purchase.

When we added up the plant sales, tool sales, compost, manure and new OAHA memberships, we reached around £700, absolutely fantastic!

This goes a long way towards funding new rechargeable strimmers and placing a fresh order of peat‑free and multi‑purpose compost for the site.

Lovely to see so many of you — thank you for supporting your allotment community 🌿

Spring has officially sprung at the Olney community allotments and we’ve been making the most of every sunny moment. We’ve already started preparing for the Cherry Fair. Seeds everywhere — French marigolds, cosmos, echinacea, clary sage, nicotiana, dwarf and climbing French beans, runner beans, broad beans, butter beans, mangetout, sweetcorn and beetroot. If it grows, we’ve probably sown it!

Plus, the pergola is now freshly painted and looking rather pleased with itself. Roll on a brilliant growing season!

A big thank you to Catherine, Jim and friend!
