Autumn walks on a Sunday evening 🍁🍂 I just love a blue sky day when there’s a bit of a chill in the air! We had a little walk up onto our moor, 13 acres of heather, bilberries and grasses which is where our spring water comes from to service Buryemwick and our house. I must admit it’s been a worrying summer as we’ve had very little rain, no rain equals no water for us so even though we pray for good weather for our guests, we do need some rain at some point! For now though we have survived and are certainly enjoying seeing the sun ☀️

The last few days have been all about the skies!! Some beautiful autumn sunsets to enjoy ☺️ We have welcomed our guests to the cottage for a week of exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Brimham Rocks and RHS Harlow Carr are on the list I believe as well as a trip to the local pub for tea! We love to give our guests recommendations on where to visit and places to eat, it gives us an excuse to try out all the eateries in the area for one thing 😂 Dora pony has been a highlight so far with little Bell, she is the cutest kid and enjoyed cuddles this morning with Dora 🥰 hope you are all enjoying a relaxing weekend!

My goodness! I can’t believe it is 5 years since we officially opened our doors and welcomed guests to Buryemwick! The cottage has been so busy and we have been incredibly lucky to welcome some truly lovely people to share this little piece of paradise in Yorkshire 🥰 from birthday celebrations to weddings, to Christmas and new year celebrations as well as friends and families making time to get together, Buryemwick has proved to be the perfect spot to make special memories. I’ve had a little scroll through our page and I am certainly not as social now as I used to be! Clearly need to up my game and share more photos and updates, feel free to leave a comment if you’d like to see more!
The calendar is filling up for 2027 with just one weekend left in May and half of August! Make sure you plan ahead as we would love to welcome you 🙌🏻

Well there we have it Buryemwick ready to go!! (Well apart from a slight snagging list) but I guess there will always be one of those as time goes by. It’s 28 weeks and one day since we exchanged on the cottage, so don’t think we’ve done too bad to get it turned around! In fact it took us 8 months to buy it so we are fairly chuffed with how we’ve got on. I must admit I’m feeling rather emotional tonight, it’s been a tough few months getting it over the line with lots of red headed outbursts from me and Bri taking the pragmatic approach to life as usual 😂 suffice to say we are looking forward to the professional photos being taken tomorrow and our first guests moving in!! As usual we like to cut it fine 😂 you aren’t getting rid of me that easy though, I’ll be posting lots of photos through the seasons at Buryemwick as well as the photographs from tomorrow no doubt! We are looking forward to meeting all our guests as they come and go and hope they enjoy their time in this little piece of paradise we get to call home. PS the front door has been painted in ‘Ball Green’ a Farrow and Ball colour which is just gorgeous😍

Happy Friday folks! I have been extremely quiet on social media, the summer has been very busy at Buryemwick, I seemed to have blinked and missed it! And here we are in autumn already, we have moved from weeding the garden to clearing the leaves!! We have been spoilt with such beautiful weather that the rain today was a bit of shock, it did create a rather gorgeous rainbow this morning though 😍 We have a couple of weekends left at the start of November and start of December if you would like to visit us before the end of 2026!

Good evening all!

The Bank Holiday weekend is nearly over and somehow, we’re heading into autumn already!

We have had such a busy summer and are currently enjoying having guests staying for two weeks — especially without the usual Friday changeover this week.

We have also been spoilt with some lovely gifts and, best of all, cupcakes baked by the children. 🧁 They’ve been so thoughtful — and clearly know us very well! 😂

Our calendar is filling up, but we still have:

🍂 One weekend and a couple of midweek stays in October
🍁 Two weeks in November
🎄 December stays, with the cottage decorated for Christmas
🥂 New Year, if you fancy a relaxing break away!

Two weeks in August have already been booked for next summer, so don’t miss out! ☀️

Good evening all! Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. 🌸

Yesterday my friend and I enjoyed a few hours visiting the Flower Belt near Harrogate. It really is such a fabulous place to enjoy a relaxed afternoon — a gorgeous pizza and a glass of w**e at the Honey Tap café, followed by a wander through the beautiful wildflower fields and, of course, picking your own flowers. 🌼🍕🍷

It’s such a lovely way to spend a few hours, with plenty of time to relax, enjoy the surroundings and have a good catch-up and a laugh along the way.

If you’re staying with us over the summer, I’d definitely recommend adding the Flower Belt to your list of places to visit. 🌸

Good morning everyone, and happy Friday!

It’s been a little while since I last posted. My day job has been incredibly busy, and we also managed to sneak away for a couple of weeks on holiday, so I’ve been playing catch-up ever since.

The cottage has been back-to-back with bookings too, which has been fantastic, but it hasn’t left much time for social media – in fact, I’m dictating this while out on a run!

The last week of July into August was snapped up, so we’re now fully booked until 28th September.

I thought I’d share a few photos of the garden and summer here at Buryemwick. If you’re thinking about a countryside escape next year, hopefully they’ll give you a little inspiration.
