It’s always a brilliant evening — great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a really informative session led by the fantastic Dan from Kielder Observatory - he is brilliant at bringing the night sky to life!

We’ve just received the most amazing email from guests who stayed with us during their anniversary trip — and it honestly made our day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send this 📧

**“We had an absolutely fabulous stay. Everything was amazing — the rooms were spotless, the food was exceptional and the staff were an absolute credit to your establishment. We stayed twice during our anniversary trip as a halfway point to Loch Ness, and both times the team went above and beyond. They were so friendly, made us feel so welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. We’ll absolutely be recommending this place to all our friends and family.”**

Huge love to our brilliant team — your kindness and care shine through in moments like this. And to our lovely guests: thank you for choosing us and for sharing such thoughtful feedback. 💝

If you’re staying with us, why not take a gentle 20‑minute stroll up the road to Holy Trinity in Horsley? It’s an easy walk from the pub — perfect for stretching your legs, clearing your head, and letting the dogs have a good sniff about.

Holy Trinity is a sweet little 1840s neo‑Norman church, tucked just off the A68. Built as a chapel of ease and funded by the Earl of Redesdale, it’s one of those places that looks simple at first glance… then you realise it’s packed with stories. A proper hidden gem with Grade II listed status and that quiet, old‑stone charm you only get in Northumberland.

A lovely little discovery right on our doorstep!

If you’re curious about what’s happening up at Bremenium Fort, the Redesdale Archaeology Group have shared a great little video showing the dig in action:

It’s amazing seeing Roman history being uncovered just up the road. If you’re heading up for a look, swing by afterwards — we love hearing what people have spotted, and there’s always a warm welcome waiting!

Did you know one of Britain’s most famous (and infamous!) families has deep roots right here in Redesdale?

The Mitford Sisters were six extraordinary women who shaped British culture in the 20th century — from bestselling novels and aristocratic glamour to political scandal, eccentricity and friendships with world leaders. Their stories are wild, fascinating, and totally unforgettable.

The Mitfords were Northumberland born and bred, with family ties running straight through Redesdale. Their ancestors were Border Reivers, their family seat stood in our landscape, and their history is woven into the countryside around us.

🍽️ Join us on Saturday 21st November – 6pm at The Redesdale Arms

We’re hosting a special Dinner & Talk exploring the lives, scandals and legacy of the Mitford Sisters — and their connection to our corner of Northumberland.

You can also stay the night with full breakfast the following morning.

Expect great food, great company, and a night of storytelling that blends glamour, history and a dash of mischief.

If you love local heritage, fascinating characters, or a good scandal… this one’s for you.
