AWAKEN THE MAKER — June 22nd 🌿

We’re delighted to welcome ceramicist Sophie Learmont of to the Double Red Duke for the next gathering in our craft series, Awaken the Maker.

With a background in architecture and design, Sophie draws inspiration from the natural world to create beautifully tactile ceramics with organic textures and earthy palettes. During this hands-on workshop, guests will design and hand-build their own ceramic platter using Staffordshire stoneware clay, experimenting with natural grasses, pigments and glazes to create a one-of-a-kind piece for home.

After the workshop, settle in for a seasonal 3-course lunch included with your ticket. Why not make a proper escape of it? Bring a friend and stay the night before with our specially reduced room rates.

Next up in our Awaken the Maker series with 🌸

On Tuesday 7th April (10am–4pm) we welcome two brilliant makers for a day rooted in craft, nature and creativity.

First, textile artist and art therapist will introduce the beautiful world of indigo dyeing and Japanese Shibori techniques. Folding, clamping, tying and binding vintage fabrics to create striking patterns using natural dyes. Clare has worked alongside contemporary artist Damien Hirst and is celebrated for her richly textured fabrics inspired by the natural landscape 🌿

In the afternoon, Ellea Whamond, Co-Founder of botanical bath and bodycare brand , will guide you in crafting your own botanical fragrance spray, blending oils from herbs, flowers and fruits to bring the scents of nature into your home 🛀🏼

All Awaken the Maker workshops include a three-course lunch as part of your ticket — the perfect excuse to slow down, get creative and spend the day at the Duke.
