Well……The first field and pitch cuts have been carried out, albeit with a little difficulty, and the tamarisk has been hand cut.

We have also focused on hedge repairs this year, replacing parts of the hundreds of years old structures, which frame Trethias and its location. It’s a time heavy and tricky process, doing so by hand, but it is satisfying, and another environmental goal, using reclaimed stone and not bricks and blocks.

The beach has taken a bit of a beating, both from the volume of rainfall in the stream and the tides, but we still have sand at Treyarnon, unlike Constantine, and the wildlife is both blooming, and resting.

We take our green credentials very seriously, so you feel immersed in the true Cornish environment.

A reset.

What can we say? Thank you, truly thank you everyone, for the messages, emails, cards and thoughts. We have been so supported by your outpouring of memories and happy, kind words. Gerry obviously meant so much to so very many of you.

For those that do not already know, and may be interested, and perhaps even wishing to come and say farewell, the details of the funeral service are on the post below.

On Thursday 12th February 2026, Gerry, aged 93 years of St Merryn, peacefully at home. Beloved husband of the late Betty and a dear dad of Rich, David and Sally, a loving father-in-law, loving grandpa of Jenny, Leroy, Steve, Ben, Kelly and Ross and a dear papa of Ellie, Rory, Natasha, Max, Bailey, Georgie and Livvy.
Funeral service at St Merryn Parish Church on Thursday 12th March at 11.00 am. A private cremation will take place later in the day.
Family flowers only, donations, if desired, for St Merryn Parish Church and St Minver Silver Band can be made online via the Memory Giving website, by retiring collection or sent c/o R. J. Bray & Son, Funeral Directors, Egloshayle Road, Wadebridge, PL27 6AD. Tel: 01208 812626.

With sadness, we announce the passing of Gerry, Grandpa, Papa.

Trethias is what it is today, initially because of Gerry & Betty.

His presence was truly welcoming, honest and inspirational. Always with a hearty smile, a story and the most humble of attitude. With a wealth of knowledge and a sense of true altruism, he will be sorely missed by all that knew him over many decades at Trethias.

Personal messages regarding him have been coming in, and one word that continues to be used is “Legend’. Recently in society, this word has been overused. Today this word seems to have found its true definition. He was indeed a truly legendary character.

St. Merryn has lost a true village gentleman, and Trethias has lost Gerry with the beret.

Missed the night before, but managed last night to get a simple, yet vibrant shot of Treyarnon and Trevose Head looking splendid. Not something our visitors are used to, or likely to see when the park is open.
