5 star review 26th August 2026

I came home yesterday after a 5 night stay at St Marguerite. On arrival, Robbie greeted me with a friendly smile and after a short introduction showed me to my room (and kindly carried my case). The single room was adequate for my stay and everything met all of my needs at an incredible price. I really appreciated the little extras including the biscuits and chocolate eclairs! which were topped up every day. Robbie and Jane were super friendly hosts and eager for me to approach them if I needed anything. I would highly recommend a stay with them. Thank you for looking after me Robbie and Jane.

Tips for other travellers: A fabulous breakfast is available at an amazing price.

So when we will be seeing you here?

A little something I've been working on away from St Marguerite… 📷📖

My second photography book, Woven Through Time, is now complete and getting ready for publication.

Many of the photographs have been taken while exploring Devon and the wider South West, places that our guests may recognise and others they might enjoy discovering during a future visit.

The book looks at the history that surrounds us every day: old bridges, harbours, railways, village buildings and forgotten objects, as well as some of the better-known landmarks that have survived through generations.

It contains 40 black-and-white photographs accompanied by Robbie's own reflective writing.

Living here certainly provides plenty of inspiration. Sometimes the most interesting pieces of history aren't found in museums — they're just around the next corner.

I'll let you know when Woven Through Time is published.

Step back through the streets of Brixham and discover the stories that shaped the town.

It was a pleasure photographing rehearsals for Theatre Round Brixham, an interactive evening of theatre, music and local history. From fishermen and fishwives to songs and storytelling, every stop along the route brings another chapter of Brixham's rich past to life.

Having seen part of the rehearsal, I can honestly say it promises to be an enjoyable evening for residents and visitors alike.

📅 Dates: 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th August
🕡 6:30pm – 9:00pm
🎟️ Free to attend

The evening begins outside the Prince William Pub before moving around the harbour to six different performance locations.

Performance locations

🕡 6:30pm – Prince William Pub & Shops
🕖 6:55pm – Man & Boy Statue
🕢 7:20pm – Outside Albero Restaurant
🕗 7:45pm – William of Orange Statue
🕣 Final performances – Old Fish Quay

Congratulations to everyone involved—I hope these photographs give a small taste of what's to come.

Airports. Delays. Queues. Security checks. Departure boards flashing with uncertainty.

Sometimes it feels as though getting away has become more stressful than the holiday itself.

Then there are places like St Marguerite.

A sea breeze replaces the air-conditioning. Waves become the soundtrack instead of boarding announcements. Surfers ride the swell, others stretch out beneath the sun, while a quiet drink overlooking the coast reminds you that life doesn't always have to be rushed.

No passport queues. No frantic departures. Just time to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the simple pleasures that the coast offers.

Sometimes the best escape isn't the one that takes you the furthest—it's the one that lets you leave the chaos behind.

Many of you know photography has been a lifelong passion of mine. As my books and photographic projects continue to grow, I've been developing my dedicated photography page, https://www.facebook.com/RobbieCimages/ where I'll be sharing new photographs, behind-the-scenes insights, updates on Faith in Full Sight, Woven Through Time, and future books in my A Glimpse of History series.

If you'd like to follow my journey and see what comes next, I'd be delighted to have you along.

Always good seeing the train pass by over Goodrington. We still have rooms if you want a break.
