This year we decided to be brave and entered The South Devon Tourism Awards 🫣

We started by filling in lots of forms and telling them all about our little family business…fortunately they liked us and wanted to know more 🥲

Next our website and social media were explored and the judges decided we were doing a great job so we were through to the final round 😁

A mystery guest came to stay, she was lovely, not scary at all, she fitted right in. It seems she enjoyed her stay because over the weekend we received a very positive email 🤗

We can confirm that The Wentworth was judged to be within the top five of guesthouses and b&b’s in Devon and we received a ‘commended’ recognition in The Devon Tourism Awards 🤩

We are so pleased with this achievement, especially as it covers so many areas of our business and involved a judged overnight stay 🛌

New parkrun coming soon to Cockington Country Park!

A new weekly parkrun at Cockington Country Park is set to bring the joy of walking, jogging, running and volunteering to Torquay.

Exciting plans are underway for a new Saturday morning 5km parkrun which will create a free, welcoming and accessible community event within walking distance of around 10,000 local residents.

The new course will showcase Cockington's natural surroundings, encouraging more people to be active, meet others and enjoy the outdoors, whilst also helping to support local businesses in the area.

More details will be shared over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out!

What a treat!

Such a fun day was had down on Pennywell Farm.

The animals were adorable and very affectionate.

All staff members were super friendly and knowledgeable about the animals in their care.

The food served in the restaurant was absolutely delicious 😋

A highly recommended day out!

What an eventful summer ☀️

A busy guest house with so many returning guests.

Theatre trips galore…Fame, Moulin Rouge, a literary afternoon with Toff and a wonderful Whitney Tribute.

The fabulous Alanis and Lewis Capaldi at Powderham Castle.

Boat trips across the bay.

Delicious pancakes and afternoon tea.

A delightful walk on Dartmoor…loved every minute.

Events on Youngs Park Green.

Beautiful sunsets…

We have been spoiled and are so grateful to be at the heart of such a thriving community full of entertainment and natural beauty.

Wow!!!

5 years since we took a huge risk and moved lock, stock and barrel to beautiful Goodrington Sands.

The Wentworth Guesthouse is such a special place where friends meet, memories are made and everyone feels ‘at home’.

We are so grateful to be the custodians of this wonderful guesthouse and look forward to the years ahead.

A great hike on Dartmoor today…

We followed a loop from Dartmeet carpark along the river…

Beautiful setting with water, woodlands, open fields and some stunning far reaching views.

We enjoyed crossing the river at various points, even if it meant going out of our way a few times 🫣

A lovely detour to St. Raphael’s church was just what we needed, so tranquil ⛪️

We even saw wild horses on the way home ❤️
