Happy bank holiday Monday!

A special mention to Wigan Roller Rink and their End of an Era Party Night, which is fully booked.

Its sad to see it closing its current venue having first opened in 1979, closed in 1990 and then resurrected again in 2010. Many locals feel passionately about the rink, as it's a place where the community come together and many friendships have been formed.
It will still be doing pop up skating at various locations.
Hopefully they will find a permanent location in the future.

We managed to visit again recently and it was lovely to see so many families enjoying themselves.
We wish them all the best.

When we visited Eden Tearooms and Galleries for breakfast recently we came across this delightful watercolour painting of the two church spires from Liverpool artist Michael Treanor.

We don't have a painting from this artist and we think it will compliment the other artists paintings in the cottage wonderfully.

Let us know your thoughts. ☺️

A big thank you to Sharon Stanley for our incredible artificial hanging basket.

We tried a real hanging basket this year and although beautiful it required daily watering which wasn't really logistically possible with guests staying.

This way it's zero maintenance and keeps it's colour all year round!

Sharon also applied a protective spray to shield the flowers from rain and sun.

Sharon whom lives locally has recently started this new business venture and we wanted to show our support.
We are so impressed we will be buying another from her soon!

A visit to Eden Tearooms and Galleries for breakfast this week!
We arrived early and were the first guests to arrive.
Atmosphere feels light and airy, food/drinks always beautifully presented.
French toast and the children's pancakes!

We took a picture of the huge selection of cakes on offer.
We also visited the shop downstairs. We must try the pottery decorating at some point. The workshop looks fantastic.

We have included all the menus and a list of September courses

After a very successful walking adventure raising awareness and money for a mental health charity close to his heart, great to hear John Whaite is back and he has decided to reopen his popular Ruff Puff Bakery.

Bigger and better than before he has recruited family members and is currently interviewing for more roles.

We believe he has taken a new unit at Cedar Farm where the Old Rufford Printing company used to be (happy to be corrected if anyone knows different)

We wish John and his team all the best and can't wait to visit to do the all important taste test! 😋

One of our lovely followers Sandra James contacted us to explain they had great grandparents that lived at Mill Cottages. Family name of Parr.
She acquired them from her nan whom used to live on Alder Lane.
Very kindly she has gifted us these Coronation pieces so that they can be back where they came from.
Interestingly the date on one of the Parbold pieces is 1893. 13 years after Mill Cottage was built.
As they are very delicate we will have to think of a safe way to display them.
A big thank you to Sandra for such a kind gesture. ♥️
