Explore Patterdale & Ullswater without the car!

🚆Catch the train to Penrith Railway Station, hop on the 508 bus and step off right outside the Patterdale Hotel. It makes our village a brilliant base for a car-free Lake District break.

🥾 From here, you can walk straight from our doorstep towards Brotherswater, Arnison Crag, Angle Tarn or Place Fell, or catch the bus to explore Glenridding, Aira Force and Pooley Bridge.

🚌 Selected 509 services also connect Patterdale with Keswick, while you can change at Aira Force for the Ullswater Hopper and discover more of the valley.

⛴️ Head to nearby Glenridding Pier and hop aboard an Ullswater ‘Steamer’ to explore the lake by boat. You could even combine a cruise with part of the Ullswater Way for a day out by boat and boot.

🍕 Pick up one of our packed lunches before setting off for a day-out, walk part of the route and catch the bus back to Patterdale for a pizza, a drink and a well-earned rest.
