🌼Some places ask you to slow down.

Our shepherd’s hut sits beside an ancient wildflower meadow, alive each summer with orchids, ox-eye daisies, buttercups and grasses that have grown here for generations.

These meadows have become increasingly rare — which makes mornings here feel even more special. Open the door, step outside with your coffee, and listen to bees instead of traffic.

A few days here isn’t just a getaway — it’s a chance to experience a landscape that’s becoming harder to find. 🌼✨ 🌲🌿

💬Just letting you know that we have checked out.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we really loved it.

The hut itself is really beautiful and the views are spectacular. You really have a fantastic attention to detail and clearly put a lot of love into this 😊

The lemon drizzle cake was delicious and a lovely surprise when we got here (see picture of me enjoying it 😅)

We will definitely be staying with you again at some point and have already talked to my parents about staying in the cottage together in a few months time.

Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality and we can’t wait to stay here again soon.

I had to share these pictures taken this weekend showing a walk that can be taken if you are staying at Boots & Bubbles in the cottage or the shepherds hut ….This walk takes you from Langsett Reservoir to Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District. The route runs for about 10 miles, crossing the hills of the Howden Moors in between the two bodies of water. There’s some moderate hill climbs with wonderful views and lovely heather moorland scenery to enjoy on the way.
The route starts from the car park and visitor centre at Langsett Reservoir and follows footpaths around the water to Hingcliff Common. You then follow a bridleway south along Mickleden Edge towards Howden Edge and Margery Hill. The route then descends through Cranberry Clough to Howden Reservoir where you pick up a lovely footpath to take you to the Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs.
On the way look out for the historic Slippery Stones packhorse bridge at the northern end of Howden Reservoir. The 17th century bridge is a reminder of the former Derwent Village which was ‘drowned’ in 1944 when the Ladybower Reservoir was created.

After your exercise head to the Ladybower Inn for refreshments. This traditional stone-built pub dates back to the 18th century when it served as a Coaching Inn. There’s also a nice beer garden with views over the reservoir. The pub is located on The Snake Pass, at the eastern end of the lower Ladybower reservoir. Postcode is S33 0AX.

What better way to spend a weekend especially if the weather is good ! After your walk enjoy relaxing in your log fired hot tub with a well deserved drink 🍷

Have you tried a cold barrel plunge? This practice is known for its numerous health benefits, including improved recovery after exercise, reduced muscle soreness and enhanced mental wellbeing. For wellness enthusiasts it’s known for its ability to boost mood, metabolism and immune function
Slowly lower your body until fully submerged and hold for 3-10 minutes depending on comfort and experience…. Post plunge warm up gradually and hydrate to aid recovery
Would you give this a go ?

💝Love seeing the snowdrops … this means we hopefully will be getting brighter days !!! The hibernation is nearly over 😁

It’s time to start planning your summer escape …. Thinking about countryside walks, fresh air and sunshine

Snowdrop facts incoming ‼️

Snowdrop mythology links the flower to hope, rebirth, and the underworld, often through Greek myth where Persephone brought them from Hades, symbolizing spring’s return. Christian folklore tells of an angel turning snowflakes into snowdrops for Adam and Eve as a sign of hope after Eden’s expulsion. Other tales connect them to healing herbs like Moly in Homer’s Odyssey, while also carrying darker superstitions about death or bad luck if brought indoors, partly due to their white, shroud-like petals and association with graveyards.
