The motorway is due to closure for several weekends soon meaning we could see diversionary traffic through Hackthorpe. 😞

Advance warning: overnight full carriageway closures on the M6 this August 🚧

We’re expecting to complete the installation of permanent expansion joints at M6 Lowther Bridge by the end of August. To work safely, we’ll need to close the M6 in both directions between junctions 39 and 40 on the following dates:

🔹 Northbound closed • Saturday 8, 15 and 22 August (10pm–6am)
🔹 Southbound closed • Sunday 9, 16 and 23 August (10pm–6am)

Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place via the A6.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. 🕒 Remember: closures may change at short notice.

Great walk!

Looking for a new walking route this Summer? How about the Eamont Way, a 5.5 mile walking route from Penrith Railway Station to Pooley Bridge Steamer Pier.

The route follows the course of the river Eamont, crossing it twice. It starts with a series of signed pedestrian crossings from the railway station to the edge of the town, then follows a series of signed footpaths, bridleways and ‘permitted paths’ to exit at ‘The Sun Inn’ in Pooley Bridge. From there it is less than 1/2 mile to the pier for the Ullswater Steamers where onward lake travel to Howtown and Glenridding is on offer and onward from Glenridding to Aira Force.

You could get the bus back into Penrith for just £3 single fare!

One of our favourite places in the Lakes is Watendlath Beck. Always full of wildlife, so peaceful, over a mile and a half of cool pools, crisp water and waterfalls, and it’s 250 meters above sea level. 🥰
