Set in Cumbria’s idyllic Lyvennet Valley, Midsummer Barns, both Moon and Dove, began life in the early 1600s as a Westmoreland stone barn. It remained in use until the 1960s, but since then had become a virtually derelict structure. In midsummer 2019, Chris and Caroline Addison began a complete restoration project, to convert this ancient listed building, set within a conservation area, into two l
uxury self-catered holiday homes. Midsummer Barns provides a welcoming retreat for up to twelve, with each barn accommodating six guests. The barns are located in the centre of Kings Meaburn village and share a large orchard, which has also been lovingly recreated during this restoration project - though each barn has its own patio. Nestled between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks, with easy access to Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders, the Midsummer Barns are perfectly located for visitors wanting an active holiday while avoiding the congestion of the central lakes.
