Off we went to the Farne Islands in Northumberland for a day of seabird spotting, a refreshing dip in the North Sea, and a picnic on the beach.

And what a day for wildlife it turned out to be! We saw seabirds in abundance, including puffins, shags, razorbills, guillemots, kittiwakes, gannets, and eider ducks, to name just a few.

What we weren’t expecting was a very special encounter as we left Seahouses Harbour: a pod of bottlenose dolphins! To our delight, the boats came to a stop and, for around 10 minutes, we were surrounded by dolphins, watching them at close quarters. The boat’s captain explained that their behaviour suggested they were hunting for food – so we had quite literally interrupted their lunchtime! Fortunately, they didn’t seem bothered by our presence, and it was a truly magical experience.

We rounded off the day with fish and chips at a local restaurant before heading back to Cumbria, delighted with our adventure. Great company, incredible wildlife encounters, and memories to last a lifetime!

What a day it has been ! So much energy, fabulous encounters and amazing settings. It started with a presentation to the lovely this morning. So much talent, expertise and support from this amazing group of female entrepreneurs. Then I rushed back to welcome my guests and took them to for a 2 hour class of Nordic walking class. My kind of day 👍🏻

North View Adventure celebrates its 3rd birthday 🥳🥂

If you would have asked me 5 years ago if I was going to change my lifestyle, to relocate to Cumbria, to create a company, to run a B&B, to qualify as a mountain leader and Nordic walking instructor and to run walking holidays in the Tunisian Sahara and in the High Atlas in Morocco I would have said « no way Jose ».
You see, I had a secure job (or so I thought) in London and was content with my life.

Sometimes life throws some challenges and it is up to us to make the best of the worst situation. With hindsight, it was the best thing that happened to me.

Over the past 3 years I have:

🙏🏻 welcomed over 750 people from around the world at North View B&B. Some guests have become regulars, others are now friends and all of them were an absolute delight.

💷raised money for Penrith Mountain Rescue Team (1% of the B&B profit and from this year, a donation in each guided walks in Cumbria we organise),

🏆received the traveller’s awards for 3 consecutive years

🥈received the silver world marmalade award for 3 consecutive years… still aiming for gold (and believe me this is a very serious business here in Cumbria 😁)

🐪 took many groups walking in the Tunisian Sahara and received fantastic feedbacks

🎒guided guests on wonderful walks in the Lake District.

As it been easy to run 3 businesses as a solo entrepreneur? Absolutely not but it has been rewarding, exhilarating, amazing, overwhelming, stressful in equal measure.

It is a wonderful adventure everyday!
Thank you for guests, clients, friends, family for your support and trust, I am very grateful indeed.

I nearly didn’t go.

The desert wasn’t on my bucket list. I don’t do group holidays. And honestly? I’m a mountain person.

But I went anyway and the Sahara quietly changed something in me.

The softness of the sand under my feet. The stillness. The warmth of the Berber people welcoming you into their world, their stories, their way of life. I thought I’d get restless doing the same thing every day. I didn’t because each day was different . I just… slowed down. Properly.

I came back feeling grounded in a way I hadn’t in a long time. Lighter. More myself.

That’s why I now take small groups back there every year. Not for the Instagram moments, though trust me, the landscapes are extraordinary, but for that feeling. The one that’s quite hard to explain until you’ve experienced it yourself.
We have two treks this November in the White Desert, and if you’re curious, I’d love you to join my free webinar. I’ll take you through everything: what the walking is actually like, what we eat, where we sleep, the practicalities around hygiene in the desert. All the real questions you’re probably already thinking. It’s an honest conversation, not a sales pitch.
