A foodie country pub with rooms...The Queen’s Head is a village pub with a difference. Lovingly renovated, and retaining much of its 17th Century character, its interiors offer everything you want from a cosy country pub – a roaring fire in the Winter, a copper-topped bar, original stone walls and exposed-beam ceilings – and it’s as loved by locals and their dogs as it is by visitors to the area.

We have six bedrooms where you can lay your head after a day’s exploring (and eating) – they’re each individual, but all are full of character, with original art, antique furniture and the important things done well – great beds, soft linens, generous toiletries, and an excellent breakfast. Sister to Askham Hall and the George and Dragon Clifton.

We could have gone with the traditional route, but let’s be honest, you can keep your Italian lager when we have this Cumbrian Classic on draught. 🍻

Our wood-fired pizzas pair beautifully with local craft beer, specifically Cumbrian Ales’ Loweswater Gold. It’s wonderfully versatile, refreshing, and just subtly hoppy enough to let all those delicious toppings shine without overpowering them.

Hailing from the sun-drenched island of Sardinia, Andrea brings over a decade of experience and infectious energy to our kitchen. He’s passionate about serving the best quality pizza this side of the lakes.

From prepping freshly harvested ingredients from our kitchen gardens to stretching out the dough, Andrea does it all with flair and confidence. That passion carries through when the pizza hits the oven, transformed by the flames and smoke of locally felled, air-dried wood from the valley into something truly delicious.

🇮🇹 Chef’s Pick: His signature white pizza (No. 12) is taking over... Mozzarella, mortadella, burrata & pistachio. A wonderful Sicilian-inspired pizza, perfect with a generous drizzle of our homemade hot honey.
