An old farm order book from Christmas 1946 shows that the Haweswater Hotel ordered:

Hope they had a fabulous time! Good to see that the relationship between farming and tourism is still going strong.

After some welcome rain last week, we’re lifting the ban on portable BBQs at The Quiet Site from today.
We’re still not allowing any form of disposable BBQ until we see how the weather develops...
Please remember that open fires have never been permitted at The Quiet Site.
And if you’re heading out onto the Lakeland fells, please continue to observe the BBQ and fire ban until further notice.
