An impromptu day off yesterday with Mr C and Rosie 💕
We headed off to Lowther, walked to Helton, across the fell to Askham and back to Lowther Castle and Gardens.
It’s a beautiful walk. Hope you enjoy the photos….

You couldn’t get a more local meal than Barugh Cottage Produce. How many people grow their own mushy peas and potatoes, and rear their own sausage meat 🤩
Do give it a try when next visiting 😋

As of last week we are serving our home grown mushy peas! We planted these marrowfat peas in the spring with the intention being to combine them but unfortunately that hasn't gone to plan... They just didn't get going enough to out compete the weeds unfortunately so it wouldn't be possible to combine (at least no one would fancy the job 🤣) However, we are bringing in at least some of the dried plants in dumpy bags and hand shelling weekly. Which actually isn't as bad as it sounds, quite therapeutic really! We use a kilo of dried peas a week in the trailer so hopefully we can keep up for a while at least. Served alongside our home grown potatoes, which are also available to buy in Kirkoswald Community Shop
Our sausage and mash served with mushy peas and onion gravy is available every Monday night at Lazonby bridge from 5pm till 8pm.

We are now selling local honey 🍯 and when I say local, I mean local.
Park Head Honey is produced 1/4 mile away, or one field away, whichever you prefer.
That means the bees 🐝 you see on the flowers at Howscales are likely to be the bees that are producing the honey!
I have an initial stock ready to be purchased, but before I can display it in the Guest Area I need Mr C to put up a shelf for me! 😀

A big shout out to The Fetherston Arms, just because they are so friendly and welcoming, serve amazing food and exceptional beer, and wine of course 😊 and at the last minute find a table for our arriving guests. We are so lucky and we love you ❤️

Rosie went for a bath, brush and blow dry today at H&B Collective - Dog Grooming, and still she chooses to lie amongst the soil and stones!
Here’s me trying to get all four of her beds washed and dried so they are nice and clean for her!!! 🐾💕🐾
