🎄 A Christmas Carol – a magical and slightly spooky new adaptation of Dickens’ classic, with original music and live performances. Showing from 13 November to 3 January.

🦙 Meet our newest arrival – Michelangelo! 🦙

If you stayed with us this summer, you may have already spotted our newest little arrival – Michelangelo, born this July to our lovely alpaca Hi-de-Hi. 💕

We’re delighted to say that both mum and cria are doing really well and Michelangelo is growing fast!

If you’d like to meet them both during your stay, why not join one of our Alpaca Meet & Mingle experiences? You’ll get the chance to meet our friendly herd up close – and hopefully say hello to Michelangelo too! 🥰

☔️ Rainy day in the Lake District? Don’t let the weather stop you! 🌧️

We might be famous for our mountains and beautiful views, but there are plenty of things to do when the clouds roll in!

Here are a few of our favourite rainy day ideas:

🏰 Explore a castle or historic house – Discover the history of Carlisle Castle or take a trip to Lowther Castle and explore its fascinating ruins and gardens.

🖼️ Visit a museum or gallery – The Pencil Museum in Keswick or Tullie House in Carlisle are great options for a few hours indoors.

🎬 Go to the cinema – Enjoy a film and escape the rain at the cinema in Keswick, Penrith or Rheged. Perfect for a cosy afternoon!

🚂 Take a boat trip – Enjoy the scenery from the comfort of inside – Derwentwater and Ullswater are both within easy reach of Near Howe.

💦 Embrace it! – Pull on your waterproofs and head out for a walk – you’ll definitely earn that cake afterwards! 🥾☕️

🦙 And don’t forget our alpacas! Our Alpaca Meet & Mingle sessions are a lovely way to spend some time with our friendly residents – although they’re perfectly happy whatever the weather!
