Always delighted to receive amazing reviews like this one!

Robert stayed with us for 5 days and planned his stay really well.

He started with a 2 day wood workshop with Lakeland Cabinet Makers in Penrith where he learnt to make a box. He did a great job, it was beautiful and it made me want to have a go too.

Then he wanted to climb Scafell Pike so we talked about route choices, gear including map & compass, weather forecast, food to take, plan B just in case and how to get some help if need be. He came back delighted!

The following day was a well deserved rest day so we suggested to go for a coffee and cake at Verey Books before walking along Ullswater, Lake District to see the Aira Force water falls. We recommended some local independent restaurants and cafés too in Penrith Town and in the Eden Valley during his stay.

So much to see and do from Penrith and you don't necessarily need a car. There are regular bus services to explore Cumbria.

Why travel abroad when all this is right on your doorstep?

We’ve recently welcomed guests and shown them some of the best experiences Cumbria has to offer — wild camping, paddle boarding, guided walks in the Eden Valley, the sheep auction, the Penrith Town May Day parade and the wonderful plant and food fair at Hutton in the Forest to name just a few.
One of our guests has even decided to combine a wood box-making workshop with a few days of walking — what a lovely idea!

GOLD award for North View B&B marmalade 🥳🥳🥳

Wow, I was hoping for it but not expecting it! I am chuffed to say the least and the feedback from the judges is so lovely.

This event is a world event and it happens to take place just a few miles from our B&B in the Dalemain mansion.

Every year, they receive over 3000 jars from around the world. Each single jar is tasted!! And you get some feedback too. It is run by volunteers and the money received from each entry goes to charity (Hospice at Home).
They have raised so far £380,000 over 21 years. What an achievement!

I have decided to give all the money of the sale of our home-made jams to Penrith Mountain Rescue Team and our guests love the idea 👍🏻as for tasting our marmalade, well, you will have to come and stay with us!

PS: I couldn't help it but have a photo taken with the chair of the marmalade judges. What a job to taste all of the entries!! well done to all of them and to the Dalemain team who put such a fabulous event together.

It all started with an idea, no business plan but a lot of passion and a clear vision: a B&B and outdoor adventures.

I wouldn't do it differently.

🌿 The best mornings are the ones that surprise you.

I was just out for a run. Head down, usual route, not thinking about much. Then I crossed a field and there it was — a lamb taking its very first breath.

I stood there longer than I probably should have. It’s one of those moments that’s hard to put into words. Something so small, so ordinary to the farmers around here, and yet completely stopping.

Lambing season is in full swing across Cumbria right now. If you’ve never been up here at this time of year, you’re missing something special.

Each year in April, the Lake District is lovingly renamed the “Marmalade District.” Why? Simple… the take place at Dalemain Mansion—and North View B&B proudly takes part every year. Even better, all entry fees go to the Hospice at Home charity 💛

It’s been one of those quietly busy weeks here, getting everything ready bit by bit.

We’ve been adding some fresh touches to the front room and TV space, brightening up the hallway, and just making sure everything feels comfortable and welcoming. It’s amazing how the little details can make such a difference.

This morning felt like a good sign of what’s to come: freshly squeezed orange juice and a homemade vegan shakshuka, a new addition to our breakfast menu.

We are ready and are Looking forward to welcoming our guests tomorrow 😊

After redecorating the front room… I decided to inject some colours in the hallway. I have this lovely rug (rescued from a skip!!) on the wall and I decided to go for the Farrow and Ball Rectory red paint. It has a tone of pink in it. Pink is not my colour and it was a risk to go for this (the paint is good but not cheap 😉). But F&B never disappoints. What do you think? Do you like it before or after?
