🪺BBC spring watch might have wrapped for 2026, but things have only just gotten started in North Wales here at Llwyn Onn. 🦋
🐣Our 5 hand reared ducklings are growing by the day.
🪺We have a pair of Barn swallows sitting on 5 eggs in their nest in the Alpaca shelter lined with feathers from the chickens & ducks.
🐦One family of blue t**s occupying one of our bird boxes have fledged and we hope they will have a second brood.
🐦A second family of blue t**s are in another bird box on the other side of the lake are being very vocal, so not long before they fledge.
🐦A wren nesting in one of the ornamental small trees at the front of the house have successfully fledged, and a second wren family have taken over an old swallow nest and are incubating eggs.
🪱Blackbirds and robins have been spotted with worms and caterpillars in their beaks ready to feed their young.
🪺We have a spotted flycatcher who has built a nest, balanced on a ledge in the stone wall of an outbuilding, as they are on the red list of birds in decline in the UK we very much hope the nest survives.
🦙Our Alpacas are about to be sheared any day now.
🦋We recently saw a Humming Bird Hawk Moth for the first time, hopefully it will return as more flowers bloom.
🦅And if this isn’t enough Llyn Brenig a 10-minute drive away have recently hatched Osprey chicks which can be observed from the North Wales Wildlife Trust viewing site.
