I post all sorts—updates about the cottage, favourite local spots, photos, and news about when bookings open or cancellations pop up. It’s a positive, welcoming space—and that’s how I like to keep it. Anything outside of that will be removed without consultation, and users may be blocked. It’s not a space for debate, politics, spam, or dealing with individual concerns—which are always better resolved directly and privately. We’re now on Instagram too!

It’s early days over there, but I’m going to use it for more of the day-to-day bits of life around Lebanon Cottage and West Cornwall. Places we’ve been, things happening at the cottage, local walks, the garden, and no doubt the occasional appearance from Jess.

We quite often hear the same thing when guests first arrive at Lebanon Cottage: “It’s much bigger than I expected!”

Maybe it’s the word “cottage”. You might expect small rooms and low ceilings, but that’s not Lebanon Cottage.

It sleeps five comfortably, with room for everything that comes with bringing dogs on holiday too. Crates, beds, bags, boots and all the other stuff that comes with them.

And the kitchen diner has a table and loads of work surface. In fact, I’m slightly jealous of it compared with my own kitchen!

It’s a cottage you can properly settle into for your holiday, dogs and all.

🐾 Last-minute October availability

We’ve just had a very last-minute cancellation due to a family emergency, which means Lebanon Cottage is unexpectedly available from Friday 9 October.

It would be lovely to turn an unfortunate cancellation into a last-minute break for someone else. The full week is £742, or, as it’s so close, we’re happy to offer short breaks of three nights or more.

October is a lovely time to be in West Cornwall, and of course your dogs are very welcome too.

There's a misconception that Cornwall had the same oppressive heat as the rest of the country this summer. It didn't.

Being this far south and west, you'd think we'd have had it worse. But we get a sea breeze that usually takes the edge off.

Plenty of guests said the same, glad to have the sun without the heat that made headlines elsewhere.

A lot of next summer's already booked, but if you fancy somewhere to escape another potential scorcher, for me you can't beat Cornwall.

After a walk in autumn weather, this is the bit that makes a difference.

There's a hose outside to rinse off muddy paws before anyone comes in, and towels to dry them off properly. Inside, a cupboard with bowls, p**p bags, mats and a few other bits and pieces we've picked up over the years. A couple of throws too, for anywhere your dog fancies curling up, and a travel stair gate if you want to keep them out of a room or two.

Little things, but they save you packing half of it yourself. If you want to check exactly what we can offer, just get in touch.

Cape Cornwall is one of those places that gives something different each time I go there. Big views and lovely walks, sunsets and rolling mists.
Drive and there's a National Trust car park. Or walk just over a mile, through fields and a few bits of single-track roads from the cottage. You can walk along the coast path towards Carn Gloose and Cot Valley one way, or Kenidjack the other.
There's a café through summer and the shoulder months, coffee and some tasty treats.

Every week we try to put some flowers from the garden in the cottage. It's so much nicer than buying in.
As you can imagine, this year has been challenging with the weather.
However, we have a few late bloomers and this week it's sunflowers! 🌻
It was a bit of a reach to get them as they are now so tall, and I think the darker colour of these ones is lovely.

The Garden at Lebanon Cottage

The garden's quietening down for the winter.

The palms have dropped a fair bit of their foliage due to the summer heat and look a bit bare, but they will come back. Most of what's planted came through the summer heat just fine. It's patio and gravel rather than lawn, so however grey or wet the day is, you can still get out there without it turning into a mud bath.

Table and chairs are out year round. The garden is sheltered so it doesn't have to be summer to sit out with a coffee, dog pottering about beside you.

There is a high fence and wall right the way round, a bolt on the inside gate so there's no chance of an escapee, and direct access from the patio doors. Although we're next door, there's a proper gap between our garden and yours so it stays your own space.

It's set up to be comfortable for you and comfortable for your dog. If you've got any questions about it, just ask, happy to answer.

Who fancies a cheeky little break down in Cornwall before the end of the year? After a packed September and October, we have a few gaps in November and December.

Enjoy quiet coast path walks and cosy dinners in the many pubs and eateries in St Just, just a short stroll from the cottage.
