The rats have been stealing all the bird feed, so we have removed the feeders for now and hung lights up instead.

The window bird feeder is still there.

So now we can enjoy an ambient lit garden corner instead.

We will look into humane options at the end of the season to see how we can control the rat population around us.

Sometimes a place is so beautiful you just have to dive right into the experience—literally!

Our visit to Kynance Cove today was absolute magic. The water was a stunning turquoise, and when the sea looks that inviting, Charmaine couldn't help but jump in for a wild swim, clothes and all! 😂🏊‍♀️

After warming up, we treated ourselves to cold drinks and ice cream while browsing the local spots, where we happily added a few more pairs of Whimsical Wellies socks to Charmaine’s growing collection. 🧦✨

Now we’re back at Chyvounder, relaxing outside with the chiminea keeping us warm as the day winds down.

Planning a trip with your dog? Kynance Cove is a must-visit! Just keep in mind that seasonal dog restrictions apply on the main beach between July and August (10am - 6pm), though the breathtaking cliff path walks are open to our four-legged friends all year round. 🐾

We had the most incredible day exploring the breathtaking Kynance Cove today!

The turquoise water was looking so irresistibly beautiful that Charmaine couldn't resist a swim—fully clothed and all! 🏊‍♀️😂 After drying off a bit, we treated ourselves to a well-deserved cold drink and some ice cream. We even managed to track down some more Whimsical Wellies socks to add to Charmaine's growing collection. 🧦✨

Now, we're back home at Chyvounder, winding down the perfect evening exactly how it should be: chilling outside with the chiminea crackling away. 🥰

Quick Note for Dog Owners: While Kynance is a paradise, there are seasonal dog restrictions on the main beach from July to August (10am - 6pm), but the surrounding cliff paths are stunning year-round! Check out our digital guide or the National Trust site for full details before you head out. 🐾

We visited Hell's Mouth and Basset Cove yesterday, and wow... the views here are absolutely breathtaking! The sheer scale of the rugged cliffs and the stunning rock formations always leave us in awe. 🦅✨

We stopped for a while just to watch the surfers down in Basset Cove catching those beautiful, long rolling waves—and then them carrying their surf boards while making that massive climb back up the cliff path afterwards! 🏄‍♂️🌊

This particular section of the South West Coast Path is a dream if you're staying with us with a dog. Because it's a bit quieter with very few other dogs around, Doughnut was able to happily stroll along off-lead, sniffing to his heart's content.

It's the perfect spot for anyone looking for wild Cornish beauty, dramatic coastal photography, or just a peaceful walk with their four-legged best friend.

Charmaine was tempted to go for a swim, however, she forgot her swim wear.

Woodland Adventures with Doughnut 🌳🐾

Doughnut and I had the most wonderful time exploring Tehidy Country Park today! With over 9 miles of paths and 250 acres of peaceful woodland, there is always a new trail to discover.

If you're visiting with your four-legged friends, you can absolutely stop by the lovely café for a treat together. Just a quick heads-up for fellow dog owners: dogs aren't allowed to walk in the immediate wildlife area surrounding the pond to keep the local swans and ducks safe. 🦆🦢

Host Tip: If you want to make your walk a little longer and enjoy some extra tranquility, we highly recommend branching off to explore the beautiful Oak Wood section of the park. It is stunning!

Whether you want a short stroll or a full afternoon of exploring under the canopy, it’s a must-visit spot just a short drive from us.

The Utility shed during the day.
We put sensory solar lights on today.

The washer dryer and fridge were moved last night into place.
Mud Daddy and bird seed have been moved to the shed as well.

Still a few more things to do before it is set up to our satisfaction.

Wwwhhhoooo Hhhhoooo, we are getting there🎉

Now that is what we call dedication! Gary and the maintenance team arrived at 2:00 PM today, and they were still hard at work by torchlight until almost 10:00 PM to get our new utility shed finished.

Swipe to see the team in action! →

This new addition is going to be a total game-changer for your stay at Chyvounder. The shed will house:

🧺 Our brand-new washing machine and dryer.
🍦 A spare fridge (perfect for those extra BBQ supplies or local ice cream!).
🚿 And the Mud Daddy to wash your dog down🐾

No more worrying about sandy paws or salty gear after a day at the beach. We’re so excited to get this fully kitted out and ready for you to use.

A massive thank you to Gary for the late-night shift to get this across the finish line. It’s all coming together!

We’ve been busy making some exciting upgrades at Chyvounder to make your stay even more effortless.

While our trusty little camping washer served us well, we knew our guests deserved something a bit more substantial for those longer coastal stays. We are thrilled to introduce our brand new H-Wash & Dry 300 Lite!

Now you can easily freshen up your gear after a day of exploring the South West Coast Path or a dip at Perranuthnoe, all from the comfort of your hideaway. No more camping-style laundry—just more time to relax and enjoy the view! 🌊🧼

It’s all part of our commitment to making Chyvounder the perfect, stress-free home away from home.

Next to come is the utility shed that it will be stored in along with the spare fridge/freezer.

Just look at this view! 😍

There’s something so grounding about a circular walk and a dip in the ocean to clear the head.

With the tide out today, I found a quiet little beach tucked just behind the rocks on the left side of Perranuthnoe. After a refreshing swim, I scrambled across the rocks to the main beach before heading home to Chyvounder.

We feel so lucky to have such a variety of incredible routes and secret swim spots right on our doorstep. Having views like this just a short walk away is the best kind of therapy.

Pro Tip for guests: Always check the tide times before you head out so you can enjoy these hidden sandy spots safely! 🕒🐚

PS You can do so from our digital guide under beach and wild swimming.
