Bob Mortimer, Paul Whitehouse and their trusty terrier Ted are back — and this Christmas they’re heading to Devon and Cornwall for what looks like a very special festive adventure.
Travelling by steam train, they’ll fish the scenic rivers Lyd and Camel in Devon, then head out to sea from Cornwall aboard a traditional fishing boat. Along the way, they’ll link up with local favourite Dawn French and their old friend Dr Anand Patel, before visiting top chef Paul Ainsworth in his Padstow restaurant — where they’ll prepare a Christmas feast featuring turbot.
The journey sees them tracing the coastline down to the tiny fishing port of Mousehole, joining local fisherman Neil as they head out from harbour and pass the historic Penlee lifeboat station. Their trip ends with a Christmas-lit village meetup and a special performance by the local choir — a touching nod to tradition, community and memories.
“Gone Christmas Fishing” continues what the show does best: blending gentle humour, real friendships, reflections on life, and a love for Britain’s rivers, seas and countryside. Whether you’re tuning in for laughs or looking for a warm, seasonal escape to familiar shores, this special could be just the thing.
