Our fourth October events post features two brilliant outings within easy reach of Porthtowan:

🌿 Kalan Gwav at Trelissick: 17 October–1 November 2026
Head to the National Trust estate for folklore-inspired displays and storytelling among the beautiful autumn gardens and woodland.

🔎 Agatha Christie’s The Hollow at Hall for Cornwall: 20–24 October 2026
Enjoy this classic mystery in Truro, around 30 minutes’ drive from Porthtowan: perfect for a culture-filled evening during your stay.

Then come back to the beach, warm up and enjoy those spectacular sunsets from your private balcony 🌅

Our three adjoining beachfront apartments (Whispering Waves in, Surf 'n' Sands and Sunsets in Porthtowan) each sleep up to 4 guests. Book all three for groups of up to 12 🏖️

Planning an autumn half-term break or a winter coastal stay? We offer stays from 2 nights, except during the summer school holidays when bookings run Friday–Friday. Friday after-work arrivals are ideal for avoiding Saturday traffic and gaining an extra weekend day.

Fancy swapping the summer crowds for quiet beaches, bracing coastal walks and cosy evenings in? 🌊✨ Winter by the sea has its own kind of magic.

Sunsets in Porthtowan has availability from November 2026 right through into 2027. Whispering Waves in and Surf 'n' Sands also have limited availability during the same period, so there are still lovely winter dates to look forward to.

Each stylish, self-catering apartment sleeps up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, with the beach just outside and a private balcony looking over Porthtowan Beach and out to sea. After a fresh-air walk, settle in for a cosy evening or warm up by the log fire at a nearby village pub. 🥰

Coming with family or friends? Book all three adjoining apartments together and stay as a group of up to 12. Minimum stay is 2 nights.

🎵 Meva Shanty Festival: Mevagissey, 15–18 October 2026
Expect 90+ sea shanty groups and hundreds of free performances across Mevagissey and Pentewan. A proper Cornish weekend of music, sea air and good cheer!

🍴 eat:Bodmin, Saturday 17 October
A free, family-friendly food and drink festival taking over Fore Street in Bodmin. Perfect for sampling local flavours and enjoying a relaxed day out.

Our first October events feature is the Falmouth Oyster Festival, taking place at Events Square in Falmouth from 8–11 October 2026.

Celebrating the native Fal oyster, this much-loved festival brings together cookery demonstrations, delicious seafood, live music and craft stalls. A lovely way to spend an autumn day by the water. 🎶🌊

It’s around 40 minutes’ drive from Porthtowan, making it easy to pair with a relaxing coastal stay at Cornwall Coastal Holidays. Come back to your beachfront apartment, enjoy the sea air from your private balcony and settle into a slower pace of life.
