We’re stepping between the seasons now in a game of hopscotch with the weather. Small echoes of summer, the mellowness of autumn and a hint of the winter days ahead.
The alternative photo was Sammy’s drive to the vets for his annual flea medication treatment. We’re still recovering from the trauma. Sammy is exhausted after shrieking an entire at opera at full volume all the way to Penzance.

An Ednovean potpourri of snaps Yesterday’s Blue room’s spring clean as the bedspread flies in the wind, the towels are neatly folded and was that one of St Micheal’s Mount cannons going passed the bedroom windows? Sadly I forgot to take any snaps of the bedroom at the end. Sorry iPhones make everything look further away… But I did remember to take a snap of our pub supper underneath The Tinners fairy lights! I love fairy lights which is good as the season is approaching!

Weave your way through the date palms and topiary today and visit some of the statues set in the gardens for today’s snaps.
This morning I’m hoping to spot the cannons being lifted from St Micheal’s Mount to Folly Fields. Starting at around 10.00 am Don’t worry it’s only for maintenance! The sentinel of Mount’s Bay isn’t standing down from its duties.

The Autumn sunshine toyed with the courtyard palms yesterday sending a delicious memory of summer. There’s a second crop of figs trying to ripen now even as the first great leaves fall.

Throughout the year the crisp box parterre, tinkling fountain and dramatic date palms are a timeless welcome for our guests. Timeless and unchanging.
Yet there’s always a nod to the changing seasons to spot. For instance this week here’s been an autumn flush flowers on the Brugmansia that flamboyantly arches over the pathway to The Apricot bedroom An autumn treat along with a flush of fuchsia flowers are a gift for the garden. All quietly observed by Samuel Whiskers of course!

Out into the blue just beyond our garden gates, the brilliant blue of the sea forms a beautiful ribbon, with Penzance twinkling white across the bay. Will it be invitation for our guests to explore our corner of Cornwall and visit St Micheal’s Mount or maybe relish the tranquil world of the garden. Holidays are made for this.

The sun finally blossomed like a debutant at a ball - I was devastated of course because it meant I had to keep painting in the afternoon.
Snaps from Yesterday’s capricious weather that flashed dramatic moody skies across the bay and lit the courtyard.. and the cosiness of breakfast.
Our morning started with a table decked with the same green Apilco china that been with us for the thirty five years of B&B. I mix it with traditional willow pattern and contemporary habitat for a happy relaxing start to the day. I’ve always kept the table mismatched- there’s nothing more depressing than guests quietly scraping plates in a silent dining room because it’s such a painstakingly contrived atmosphere that the guests don’t say a word Anyway “blue and green should never be seen” So a perfect foil- I wonder if it’s still a thing?

Oh dear it’s looking dry again today- back to the painting!

Happy autumn the perfect foil and celebration from summer days.
