UPDATE: We are delighted to announce that we will fully reopen this Friday, 29th May at 11am, and are very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back to The Royal George! There are many thanks to be made, which we will of course do in time, but at this point, we would like to thank our customers and staff who were inconvenienced over the last three months. Thanks also for the kind messages of support throughout this time; they were hugely appreciated. See you Friday………..!!

Temporary Closure: We can confirm that early this morning a fire occurred in the kitchen of the hotel, and the resulting damage requires a full assessment prior to reinstatement. As a precautionary measure, the hotel will be temporarily closed while this work is carried out. At this early stage we are unable to provide a date for reopening.

We are extremely grateful that our fire and evacuation protocols activated immediately and that all guests and staff members were safely evacuated and that no injuries were reported.

We would like to sincerely commend our staff for their calm and professional response and extend our heartfelt thanks to both Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire Service, whose swift response and actions ensured the fire was quickly contained and this undoubtedly prevented it from spreading further. As a result, no other areas of the building have been affected.

Our team is currently contacting guests with upcoming bookings to assist with alternative arrangements during this period. We are committed to minimising disruption and supporting our guests in any way possible.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and appreciate both the understanding and support of our guests and the local community.

A view of The Tay in spate at lunchtime today from our conservatory restaurant. We never tire of watching this incredible river through the seasons, but today The Tay is looking menacing on a dreich January day in Perth. We hope everyone is keeping safe and dry. Have a great weekend!

We welcomed guests back on Friday following a few days closure after Hogmanay. As ever, we took the opportunity to get a few upgrades completed during this time! So a refurbishment of the ladies toilets, and some of our bathrooms thanks to Popfox Interiors with the help of Harry and Ali and carpeting fromJames Barclay Flooring. There was an upgrade to our CCTV system and new fire panel courtesy of Bonthrone Security Systems (BSS Perth) and an IT upgrade from our friends at Broxden We look forward to welcoming you back in 2026.

Wishing you a very Happy 2026! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Royal George this year, and thank you for your custom in 2025!
Following evening service on Friday 2nd January, the hotel will be closed for a few days, re-opening on Friday 10th January as normal. Whilst the hotel is closed, there will be a number of contractors continuing the refurbishment on the ground floor and only skeleton staff in the building, but we can still be contacted in the normal way via email on [email protected] or via the telephone on 01738 624455.

Wishing all of our customers past, present and future, a very Merry Christmas! Thank you for your custom during 2025, we look forward to welcoming you back to The Royal George in the near future.
Following luncheon service today, the hotel will close for a few days, re-opening on Sunday 28th December as normal. PERTH CITY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS LIMITED ACCESS

Saturday 22nd November is the annual Christmas lights switch on in Perth. Previously, overnight guests have been able to access the hotel car park, however, this is not the case this year as there will be no access into or out of George Street and therefore the hotel car park from 11am on Saturday until 6am on Sunday 23rd. The hotel will be open as normal.

We believe we have contacted all overnight guests, to make alternative arrangements for them, but if you are staying and have not been contacted, please contact reception on 01738 624455 or via email on [email protected]
