Fantastic sunflower planted by our gardener, David. We have also seen the swans that have managed to raise two cygnets to a size that should keep them safe.

New life still appearing. Bruce the Coot has been spotted with five young coots and a mallard has three young ducklings. The swan is down to three cygnets but hopefully they are big enough to survive now.

Spent a lovely evening having our annual catch up with Jane and family who have been coming to Lake Lodge for over ten years. We really do appreciate the support of our returning customers and look forward to welcoming several more over the next few months.

Lucky to get a rare sighting of a Hobby this weekend. It was circling the wood opposite Lake Lodge and we think that is what we saw taking some prey into there yesterday, so hopefully it has a nest in there. Apparently they like mayflies and dragonflies and there are masses of them about at the moment.
The swans have been sighted on one of the other lakes with four cygnets but we haven’t seen them here yet.
Bruce the coot (as he is known in our family!) is patrolling a stretch of bank and chasing off any ducks that come near, so hope he has a mate and nest in there.
It is great to see that Heron Island still hosts several Heron nests as well as White Egrets and a Tern is constantly here fishing and flying off home with its catch.
Always something different to see here.

Unusual sunset tonight

Sitting duck has managed to keep five ducklings safe so far. The geese are certainly having a good breeding season with several pairs rearing their goslings. It looks as if the big group are all off to join the First Steps Nursery by Lake Lodge gates!😄

Sitting duck finally brought her 7 ducklings within camera range. Hope she manages to keep them safe.

Update on our sitting duck! She is now out on the lake with her drake and six to eight ducklings. She is very protective and keeping them away and safe so cannot get a photo. However lots of other wildlife on and in the lake. One pair of geese hatched out three goslings but they have gradually disappeared, no doubt taken by the otters. On a brighter note the lake is so clear we can see the tadpoles swimming round.
