The kids have just gone back to school… so naturally, we’re already thinking about half term!

If you’re hoping to get away for a few days this October, now’s a good time to start making plans.

Meet Emily… our latest rather lovely and slightly different place to stay!

Tucked away on the banks of the River Wye in Aberedw, Emily is a cosy converted canal boat surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful Mid Wales countryside.

Sleeping up to 4, inside you’ll find a bright open-plan space with a kitchen, built-in double bed and two single sofa beds, plus her own private toilet.

Outside, there’s your own private decking, perfect for morning coffee, an evening drink or simply sitting back and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Ideally located for walking, fishing, exploring the River Wye or just escaping to the countryside for a few days.

I called into The Old Black Lion for lunch last Saturday and had a lovely sunny lunch out in the garden and it’s definitely one to add to your list when you’re next in Hay-on-Wye.

Tucked away at the bottom of Bear Street, The Old Black Lion is well worth seeking out when you’re in town.

The kitchen makes the most of seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible, with different menus to suit everything from a relaxed lunch to an evening meal.

The Tour of Britain is coming to Hay-on-Wye this weekend!

This Saturday 22nd August, Stage 4 of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women will race through Mid Wales before finishing in Hay-on-Wye.

And if you’re thinking about coming to watch, why not make a weekend of it?

Soak up the atmosphere as some of the world’s best female cyclists race into Hay, then spend the rest of your weekend exploring the bookshops, walking along the River Wye, enjoying some great food and discovering everything this lovely little town has to offer.
