😭 Sorry everyone, we didn’t want to have to do one of “those” posts, but unfortunately sometimes the minority spoil things for the majority.
A few polite reminders please for when you are here:
- 🚫 Please read the signs. We have had incidents recently in the last few weeks where animals have been fed things they shouldn’t (there are signs politely asking) - we have 2 ponies under very strict diets from the vet, and last year we sadly lost 2 rabbits who had been fed things they shouldn’t have by guests.
- 🐐 If you wish to feed animals there are designated feeding stations, however, these also need to be treated with respect. They take 20p to operate for animal feed and we will happily swap you for change. One has been shaken so much recently that we have had to re position it.
- 💟 Please be kind to the animals and please treat their homes with respect. This is their home and we love them very much (our two children do especially!). Please don’t scare them or throw things at them. Climbing the fencing around their space can make them feel uneasy or threatened, and we definitely don’t want anyone to fall.
- 🐰 As you can see from the photos, twice in one weekend the rabbits run has been damaged by lifting the mesh to create a hole. Our smallest rabbit escaped into the hedge but luckily we managed to catch him! But the same thing has happened again the day after in a different spot, after it had been repaired.
- 🚾 We have seen children use the toilet block to play hide and seek as well as emptying toilet roll / blue roll to fill the toilets which can block the drains.
- 🫧 The toilet blocks are checked and cleaned multiple times a day. Please leave them usable for the next person. I won’t go into more detail on this topic, other than do some people really leave their toilets and showers like that at home!?!? 🤔 But if you have an issue or find a problem, please let us know and we will resolve the matter as soon as possible 🧼 🧹
- 🚮 The large bin clearly states “not for broken camping gear, please take it home with you”. Please do just that. Broken chairs, airbeds, mattresses, even tents, all take up a LOT of room in the bins. But the more times we have to ask the council to come and empty the bins, the more we get charged. We try to keep our prices fair but all these little things add up and have to be accounted for, and we don’t want to increase our prices, we know the cost of living is hard! Plus, if the bins are full of broken camping gear, other people then leave their rubbish on the floor which could encourage vermin. It doesn’t look nice for anyone, and we have to clear it up.
- ⛓️💥Any intended damages are in fact vandalism. This then takes our time and money to repair. If you are caught vandalising anything then we reserve the right to ask you to leave and pay for the damages.
- 💚 We really really do want EVERYONE to enjoy their time here! (This post probably doesn’t sound like it 😅) We love that so many of you and your children love to see the animals, and those who come back again and again year after year 🫶🏼 The animals are here for you to enjoy, but they are also our very much loved fluffy family members.
- 🧑🧑🧒🧒 We are a small, family run site, and we have two small children ourselves so we totally understand how exciting things can be, but please remember to supervise your children when on site, especially around the animals.
- 🏠 It might be “just a campsite” to you, but it’s our home too.
🏕️ I am very sorry for the long rant and being blunt. This is not aimed at everyone. But sometimes these things build up and need to be readdressed 😢
