Gumboots & Wellingtons Two handcrafted, pet-free hideaways in the tiny hamlet of Ellerburn, near Dalby Forest. For couples / solo travellers looking for space to just ‘be’.

This leafy corner of the North York Moors is made for slow days, forest wanderings & dark starry skies. Wood burning stove. En-suite shower room. Compact kitchen. A welcome pack of breakfast treats is included to get you started, along with a basket of wood to use on the wood burner or outdoor fire pit.

Take a look at the grid to see the three images come together - Ellerburn valley where you’ll find two hideaways Gumboots & Wellingtons North York Moors National Park - it’s a place that feels very special and we often here guests saying it feels like coming home.

This weekend is a new moon, so there’s very little moonlight to compete with the stars… so if you fancy a cosy weekend by the firepit gazing upward, get in touch as we have last minute availability! 🌌✨

A warm and inviting hideaway… tucked away in our garden in the Ellerburn valley…
🚴‍♂️ You can walk or cycle into Dalby Forest from the doorstep.
☕️ Stroll along the little beck side path into Thornton le Dale to see the famous thatched cottage, BangersAndCash or simply linger in one of the gorgeous cafes (Café Bouchère is our favourite).
🚂 Or head off to explore the National Park - we’ll give you stacks of ideas before you arrive.

Lots of guests bring a lovely one pot wonder to heat up on the hob after a day of exploring… something quick and easy - then simply light the wood burner and put your feet up…

We had a spate of guests bringing beef bourguignon..
What’s your favourite?

We home made chilli & rice (with a Dorito or three on the side.. a bit of crunch)!

Today is Autumn Equinox and there’s a tiny shift towards all things cosy..
🍂 the leaves starting to turn rich reds & oranges..
🌅 the nights drawing in & beautiful sunsets..
🔥 the temptation to light the wood burner..

Imagine being tucked up in Beck Isle Cottage ~ one of the most beautiful cottages in the and one of the most photographed!

Little touches that make our hideaways feel like home.. we hope we’ve thought of all the practical things that make a stay here comfortable… but it’s the design touches that I love finding along the way.

This little ceramic house was bought at a pop up tea garden quite a few years ago (

It sits in a wooden cubby in the living room of The Den, along with other little treasures..
