What better way to celebrate than with a blind tasting of some of Cornwall's finest beers?

We gathered 8 beer tasters, sampled 8 iconic Cornish brews, and scored each one out of 10:

After adding up all the scores, there was a clear winner...

Hicks took the top spot!
Drift came a close second.
And a special mention goes to Proper Job 0.5%, which more than held its own against its full-strength rivals.

The tasting sparked plenty of debate, surprises and discoveries, proving once again that Cornwall produces some exceptional beers for every palate.

Wildlife excitement at Kernock.

We spotted green lights in the undergrowth around the estate; as bright as LEDs.

What could they be?

Glow worms! Their presence is a strong indicator of a healthy, chemical-free ecosystem. It also reinforces the fact we have dark skies here; glow worms depend on dark, wild and sheltered spaces.

The wingless adult females emit their signature green, LED-like glow during June and July to attract flying males.

In terms of size and shape, they’re more like large wood lice than worms.
