My parents have a cosy and recently refurbished studio apartment with private balcony in a Grade 2 listed Napoleonic Fort in Cornwall available for holiday rentals. Book any remaining week in March for just £400 (usually £500).

Also available again from mid-April is their two-bedroomed apartment at the fort, also recently refurbished and including private balcony. It's perfect for a small group or just for couples wanting a bit more space.

Built in 1860, Fort Picklecombe is on the south coast of Cornwall and was originally part of the Plymouth Harbour defences. Set between the woodlands of Mount Edgcumbe Park and the sea, it was converted into apartments in the 1970s with landscaped gardens, a private harbour and a small sandy beach.

Perfect at any time of year and absolutely blissful for simply sitting on the balcony and enjoying the sights and sounds of the sea (preferably with a glass of wine or a G&T!), the fort is also a great base for exploring 'Cornwall's Forgotten Corner'.

It's a bit brisk out there today thanks to but we're snuggled up nice and cosy, enjoying the view and feeling perfectly safe thanks to the thick walls in this old fort :)
