Perfect for relaxing, nature-filled getaways Kingscombe Farm, a working farm in a secluded location on the edge of the Tamar Valley, is approached by a winding country lane and farm track (bumpy in places). In a truly rural

location, the farm boasts an indoor heated swimming pool (please supervise children at all times) and adjacent games-room, and an outdoor children’s play-area, all shared by the Owners and both cottages, which are quite separate from one another. There are walks through unspoilt farmland (please take care with livestock) to the River Inney, and fishing is available when in season. The location is ideal for exploring the north and south coasts, the moors and the many local attractions. These properties have a private water supply (tested regularly). Coombe Barn is a very comfortable, detached, stone-built property with its own garden. Designed with the open plan living area upstairs and the bedrooms below, there is plenty of room. The polished wood floors and rugs are complemented by soft cream sofas, some original beams and full length windows with distant views of Dartmoor. Long Barn is a charming, single-storey barn conversion with its own patio and garden enjoying views over the valley beyond. The living area is open plan with wood and slate floors, and original features have been retained wherever possible. This attractive cottage is well-equipped and has two very pretty bedrooms.

☔ The rain is back… and so is Cornwall as we know it. 💚

After weeks of sunshine, blue skies and a very un-Cornish amount of dry weather, the Bank Holiday weekend has arrived — and Cornwall has decided it’s time for a little rain again.

And actually, we’re rather pleased to see it.

The fields need it. 🌱
The river needs it.
The gardens need it.
The animals are happy to see it.
And everything is already starting to look that little bit greener.

This weekend might mark the last big weekend of the summer holidays, but it certainly doesn’t mean the end of holidays in Cornwall.

In fact, September and October can be rather lovely here. 🍂

Quieter roads.
More space on the beaches.
Coastal walks without the summer crowds.
Pub lunches after a morning exploring.
And evenings cuddled up by the woodburner. 🔥

And if the Cornish weather doesn't play ball?

We have a heated indoor swimming pool. 🏊‍♀️

So a rainy afternoon doesn't have to mean sitting inside wondering what to do. Grab the swimming things, head to the pool and let Cornwall do whatever Cornwall wants to do outside. ☔

So, could you squeeze in one last-minute Cornish break this September or October?

☔ The rain is back… and so is Cornwall as we know it. 💚

After weeks of sunshine, blue skies and a very un-Cornish amount of dry weather, the Bank Holiday weekend has arrived — and Cornwall has decided it’s time for a little rain again.

Probably not how many miles you travelled.
Not whether every day was perfectly planned.
And definitely not whether you managed to fit in every attraction on the list.
They’ll remember the little things. 💚
💦 Paddling in the river until their feet went numb.
⚽ Throwing down two jumpers and suddenly having a football pitch.
🏏 Mum or Dad insisting they’re still brilliant at cricket.
🏊 “Just one more swim!” before finally getting out of the pool.
🐄 Stopping to watch the cows in the field.
🧺 Picnics where nobody really sat on the blanket.
🌊 Sandy toes after a day exploring the Cornish coast.
🌅 Staying outside later than usual because bedtime feels different on holiday.
As we head into the last week of the school summer holidays, there’s always that feeling that summer has disappeared far too quickly.
But there’s still time.
Time for one more adventure.
One more picnic.
One more swim.
One more evening where nobody is thinking about school shoes, packed lunches or alarm clocks.
Because childhood summers aren't really remembered by how much you managed to squeeze into them.
They're remembered in moments.

🌙 🌖 Some moments happen once. Others come back year after year. 🌿

It’s been quite a week here in Cornwall.

We’ve looked up at the sky for a 96% partial eclipse, stayed up to catch glimpses of the meteor shower, and back down on the farm, we’ve watched another little milestone unfold as the swallows finally left their nest. 🐦

Some things you wait a long time to see.

Others, like our swallows, become part of the rhythm of life here. They arrive each year, make themselves at home, raise their young and, before we know it, it’s time for them to leave again.

And perhaps holidays are a little like that too.

Some of our guests discover Kingscombe Cottages for the very first time and spend a few precious days with us before heading home with new Cornwall memories.

Others return year after year — familiar faces coming back to a familiar place, noticing what has changed and enjoying all the things that haven’t. 💚

We appreciate every single stay.

Whether Kingscombe is somewhere you visit once in a lifetime, somewhere you’ve only just discovered, or somewhere you find yourself returning to again and again, you’ll always be welcome here.

It’s been quite a week here in Cornwall.

☀️ When a day out doesn’t mean going out… 🌿

Cornwall has certainly been feeling the heat this summer. With weeks of sunshine, dry fields and now a hosepipe ban, finding somewhere to slow down and cool off sounds pretty appealing.

And when you stay at Kingscombe Cottages, sometimes the best day out is right on your doorstep.

Pack a picnic, grab your wellies or water shoes and wander down through the farm to the river. 🌳💦

No car to pack.
No searching for parking.
No queues.
No timetable.

Just the river, the countryside and plenty of time.
Let the children explore the banks, paddle their feet in the water, look for wildlife and turn sticks and stones into an afternoon’s entertainment — while you find a shady spot and enjoy doing very little at all.

And just beside the river, the flat field gives you even more space to play — jumpers can become goalposts for a family kickabout, or bring a bat and ball for a game of cricket. 🏏⚽

It’s one of the things we love most about a holiday here. You can head off and explore Cornwall whenever you fancy… but you really don’t have to.
