OVER AND OUT!

After three and a half years running the cottage, and the previous 18 months turning it into the cottage, it with a whole mixture of sadness, pride and excitement that this week, we exchanged contracts on the sale of it and our family home. It’s been brilliant and knackering in equal parts, running the cottage, doing up our family home, and both working too. Throw into that three lockdowns, and an absolute little miracle addition to our family two years ago and we made the decision that something had to change. Stonehouse has been the most welcoming and wonderful place to live and we will be frequent visitors in the future. We’re incredibly grateful to have had so many bookings and lovely reviews from guests all over the world and send the biggest thank you to those who stayed with us. I have absolutely loved seeing people fall in love with this wonderful city. For now, once our last guests leave after the weekend, we will be packing up and moving on to pastures new in another part of the city, swapping sea views for the woods and no guest check ins/ cleaning after work/ laundry/ late night trips to buy welcome packs / locked out guests / funny requests and all the rest! I think there’s a book in there somewhere….

Mount Edgcumbe country park this morning, we did a proper explore of all the gardens which we haven’t done in years. Really worth the ferry trip over on the Cremyll Ferry for some great exploring with or without children!

Getting the cottage ready for our guests tomorrow after this mornings guests departed for California in the early hours! Lucky them! Love this reflection in the kitchen splashback window (which also acts as a lightwell into the second bedroom). Such beautiful sunsets at this time of year 🔆

A lovely dog walk this evening in the beautiful light. Love these steps down to this little cove at devils point, a lovely spot to watch the boats going by 💙

And that’s a wrap! Last guests of the year checked in for New Years and now ready to collapse in a heap, for a few days at least! Thanks to all those guests who stayed with us this year, and those who have booked for next year! It’s been a funny old year having only been allowed to reopen on 12th April and ending the year with yet more cancellations thanks to the 🦠… here’s hoping 2022 will be better all round for everyone 🤞🏻. I took this pic on our dogwalk yesterday going through the tunnel at Clearbrook in Dartmoor, a lovely walk where you can end up at the Skylark Inn for a warming pint or cycle the 20 miles from the cottage along the Drakes Trail to get there! Happy New Year!
