Great information for guests, thank you

Did you know that public footpaths use yellow markers and bridleways are blue?

If you're following the South Downs Way through Cuckmere Valley and across the Seven Sisters cliffs you'll follow the yellow markers on posts and gates.

None of our paths are designated as bridleways, so they're not suitable for cyclists or horseriders. You can cycle along the accessible path to the beach and there are great cycle routes through Friston Forest.

Check out Cuckmere Cycle Co. by the Visitor Centre for cycle hire and local routes to explore.

Have you discovered the Lions Trail around Alfriston and the surrounding area?

A perfect view of the local producers of beverages within walking distance from The Alfriston Hotel and including ourselves at where our orchard provides bottles of apple juice and cans of lightly sparkling apple and raspberry to our guests and local businesses.

Why not walk the route and try some fantastic wines at and/or some perfect beers ay - with plenty scenic views in between ❤️

The village of Alfriston is lovely and within walking distance, with lots of nice places to eat and drink. South Downs National Park (Cuckmere Haven) is a short distance away, plenty to see and do. We took our 7 year old grandson and he is asking when we can go back! Mandy and Darran were great hosts. Would highly recommend this stay.''

🚴‍♂️❤️ What a lovely day!

A fantastic day cycling up to London with my amazing son. We managed around 43km, which is no mean feat! 💪🚴‍♂️

A bit of car spotting, some great food, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, some quality time together. ❤️

A brilliant way to get active, enjoy London and make some memories before he heads back to school.

✈️🔥 EASTBOURNE AIRBOURNE 2026! 🔥✈️

What a sight over the Sussex coast! 😍

We absolutely love seeing the skies come alive during Eastbourne Airbourne — incredible aircraft, incredible noise and an amazing atmosphere right on our doorstep. 🇬🇧✈️

And the best bit? You can enjoy all of this and then escape back to the peace and quiet of Alfriston Cabins, surrounded by nature in the heart of the South Downs National Park. 🌿🫶

One of the simplest ways to stay cool is simply to avoid the heat and, just like many of us, birds hide away when the sun gets really strong. Birds head for the shade, hiding in hedgerows, brambles or high up within the leafy canopy of a tree.
Here at Alfriston Cabins we have a couple of bird baths and a pond as well as plenty of hedgerows, trees and ground cover for them to use.

Have you ever used the Merlin ID app? Great for identifying birds through their beautiful song. This week I did a short 'listen' at 6am and found plenty in our location including:

- Gray Wagtail
- Great Tit
- Eurasian Blackbird
- Common ChiffChaff

- Eurasian Wren
- European Greenfinch
- Eurasian Green Woodpecker
