Sarah and Stephen were my fabulous participants on the first of this season’s sourdough courses. Look how gorgeous their loaves look!

More dates coming for late October and through November, so please do let me know via a PM if you’d like to come along and learn this glorious life skill. If you don’t live locally and you have a date when you’re planning to be here, let me know and I’ll see if I can make it work. If you’d like to stay, we are obviously a bed and breakfast so that can be arranged, but isn’t a requirement!

The courses take place over two days - two full mornings and one short evening session on the first day. You do everything yourself, fully hands on and in real time. I even cook you breakfast on day 1!

You’ll leave me with the knowledge and skill to make your own bloody amazing bread for the rest of your days, plus the loaf that you made on the course (for lunch - or tearing into on your way home!) plus some of my starter so you can continue your sourdough progress at home.

We had a truly lovely visit from Kalani and Savannah - what an absolutely lovely couple they are. I’m overusing “lovely”, but I don’t even care! Lovely, lovely, lovely - so there! Genuinely, what you see is what you get with these guys. They are as warm, charming and funny off camera as on. It was truly a pleasure! 10/10 would recommend!

(Oh, and if you give me Yorkshire puddings with roast pork/chicken/whatever and thick gravy, I’ll cheerfully devour every mouthful - not claiming my way is the only way, the best way or the right way, it’s just what I do. Come to us for New Year at The Cottage and you’ll get the best little Yorkshire pudding, fresh horseradish and rare beef canapés you’ve ever had!)

Saturday morning 9-12.30
Saturday evening 6ish to 6.45ish
Sunday 10-12.30

That’s not three separate courses! That’s you and the dough, taking your sweet time, making sourdough from start to finish in real time.

The course is £100. Give me a shout if you’d like a place and drop me a text if you’d like to but can’t make this one!

It’s never a chore baking our daily bread, but as the temperatures start to drop in the early mornings (although SO SUNNY, this week!) it’s lovely to walk back into the kitchen and find it warmed by the oven, and smelling utterly divine. We get through 6 to 8 loaves a week, at the b&b, all baked from scratch in house, all taking around 42 hours from start to finish - which is why it tastes so bloody amazing!
