Just like old times!

Last night we met again, for the first time, in a long time; we just couldn't stop giggling, sharing, and dreaming about our next creative ventures together.

A truly wonderful evening.

So wonderful to be back Lighthouse Poole, on a night buzzing with audiences, and all the sounds of the theatre (there's a great line up this season - lots of amazing local and national companies to see - check out the listings!)

So our news is that we're back! And we've some really exciting plans for writing and writers in BCP and Dorset! We can't wait to share more with you soon!

much love - Portal writers

Call out for new theatre scripts!

ProducerWorks in association with Bath Spa Productions is looking for new scripts for their forthcoming WordPlay events.

Actors will work on the script for two weeks with a final public performance, part of the process will include a workshop with a professional director.

Scripts can be published or unpublished, completed or in a development phase.

We are specifically interested in scripts that offer parts for actors 18- 28 years old, but all scripts will be considered.

Writers whose scripts are programmed for WordPlay will be offered the following:

- A small royalty fee for use of your work
- Invitation to the performance
- Free tickets for industry contacts
- A recording of your reading.

All WordPlay scripts are put forward to a team of producers to be considered for future commissioned work for Bath Spa Productions main season of work and their SparkFest programme.

Interested in submitting your script?

Then email [email protected] with the following:

- A document that outlines a brief synopsis and character breakdown (please include any important details to support casting)
- The script you wish to put forward

The deadline for Wordplay is 19th October 2020

During lockdown, Portal writer, Christine Aziz, wrote her first libretto, Isis, Goddess of Love. It is to be performed with music by composer Laura Reid as part of the Tete-a-Tete Opera Festival. Séverine-Howell Meri (of the Amazon series Hanna) sings it. Artist, Martha KIng, provides the magical animation. For less than the price of a cup of coffee and from the comfort of your own home, you can safely watch our interactive broadcast which has materialised despite the challenges of Covid. September 11th 20.25-21.15. The libretto is inspired by women around the world whose husbands and loved ones have disappeared in oppressive regimes and during war and civil conflict. The divine feminine expresses their grief.

Isis, the Ancient Egyptian goddess searches for her murdered husband, expressing the sorrow of all women whose loved ones have disappeared.
