Looking for the perfect Lake District day out during your stay at Hillcroft? 🌿🚤🥾⛰️
One of our favourite ways to explore Ullswater is by combining beautiful walks with a trip on the famous Ullswater Steamer
✨ Pooley Bridge to Howtown Walk
Just a 5–10 minute walk from Hillcroft into Pooley Bridge, you can hop on the Ullswater Steamer and sail down the lake to Howtown. From there, enjoy one of the Lake District’s most scenic walks back along the shoreline towards Pooley Bridge. Expect stunning lake views, peaceful woodland paths and plenty of photo stops along the way 📸
✨ Arthur’s Pike
One of our favourite fell walks straight from Hillcroft ⛰️
You can leave the car behind completely and walk directly from the park and up onto the fells. Arthur’s Pike offers incredible panoramic views over Ullswater and the surrounding mountains 🌿
✨ Askham Fell Walk
Right behind Hillcroft you’ll find Askham Fell — a beautiful peaceful walk across the fells with stunning scenery along the way. You can walk over into the lovely village of Askham, stop off at one of the pubs for food or drinks, then enjoy the walk back to Hillcroft 🍻✨
✨ Aira Force Waterfalls
Around a 20 minute drive from Hillcroft, Aira Force is one of the most popular walks in the area. Wander through beautiful woodland trails, cross stone bridges and discover the famous waterfall before heading down to Glenridding to catch the Ullswater Steamer 🚤
✨ Hallin Fell
Only around a 10 minute drive from Hillcroft, Hallin Fell is a shorter walk but steep and has some of the BEST panoramic views over Ullswater. Perfect if you want a less challenging walk with a huge reward at the top ✨
There’s nothing better than a day exploring Ullswater before heading back to Hillcroft to relax for the evening 🌿✨
Which walk would you try first? 🥾
Save this for your next Hillcroft holiday 🌳
