Horner Wood | Morning mist in the old oaks.

A lane winds down from Webber's Post into Horner Wood while the mist is still caught in the trees — one of Exmoor's great slow mornings.

Horner is one of the largest surviving ancient oak woodlands in Britain, a national nature reserve famous for its lichens and its bats, with a packhorse bridge and the stream running through the bottom of it. Red deer drift through the trees at first light. 🦌

Park at Webber's Post, walk down through the oaks, and you will barely meet another soul before breakfast. 🥾
