🏖️ It’s Saturday changeover day, so a wee heads-up to all our new visitors - phoning ahead is HIGHLY recommended. We can get very busy and popular time slots fill quickly.

No visit to Sailmaker's Cottage is complete without a meal or two from Portknockie Fish & Chip Shop!

🥔 Behind the Scenes at Portknockie Fish & Chip Shop… the tatties! 🥔

Last week we showed you the fish… this week it’s all about the humble potato! 😊

Our tatties are first peeled in our rumbler, which quickly removes the skins. But that’s only the beginning…

Every single potato is then checked by hand to remove any eyes or imperfections. Elaine deserves most of the credit for this job (she does Thursday to Sunday. I just do Thursday and Saturday if I can get away with it 🤣), but between us we make sure only the best make it through to become your chips.

It’s one of those jobs that most people never see but it’s all part of making sure your fish supper is the best it can be 💙

If you’re paying by card, we’d really appreciate it if you could add any sauces, drinks, slushes, ice creams or chocolate before paying. It helps keep the queue moving and saves us paying card processing fees on lots of tiny transactions.
