Swimming in Portloe's little harbour is one of our family's all time FAVOURITE things to do, and glorious sun, choppy waves and a half tide made for an especially fun afternoon doing just that on the last day of our two weeks down at No.8!

Portloe itself is the tiniest of villages, tucked into the cliffside, with one winding road leading down to the sea. Its little cove is still a working harbour, making it a regular sight to see the two fishermen, David Rounsevell and Chris Mylinski hard at work with their boats. The harbour is perfect for swimming in at high tide, and there are coastal walks aplenty to enjoy from the doorstep.

More things that we love about No. 8 - the garden and the cliff top terrace. Many an afternoon has been spent snoozing, or reading a book in the garden; and evening barbeques up on the terrace are a must-do. Enjoying a glass of wine, warmed by the chiminea as the sun sets over the sea is also pretty spectacular!

We've really enjoyed gradually doing up the inside of the cottage over the last few years, and have worked really hard to keep its original homely feel. It's fair to say we love how it's turned out! Favourite features are definitely the woodburner, and the new kitchen, though we had also have had lots of fun choosing all of the fabrics, linen, colours and curtains as well.
