The Old Salmon Bothy The Old Salmon Bothy is a superb shoreline cottage, located at Wilkhaven Pier, Portmahomack. Fisherman can sometimes be seen checking their creels.

This sweet cottage sits snugly against

a sandstone outcrop which protects it from the north winds. The decked patio, accessible from the living area, provides a lovely place to relax and watch the ever-changing patterns on the sea across the Moray Firth, home to bottlenose dolphins, seals, porpoises and the occasional minke whale. The cottage is warm and has double glazing and a wood burning stove as well as modern electric heating; so cosy in all seasons. Adjacent to the cottage is a slipway which could be used to launch kayaks or a small boat. There is private parking for 2 cars. Portmahomack has a great sandy beach, fabulous views across the Dornoch Firth and a superb restaurant called The Oystercatcher. In addition there is a pub and a cafe. Originally a fishing village, with a picture postcard harbour, there are now just a few fishing boats working but many pleasure craft. There is a local shop but just a few miles away is Tain which has two large supermarkets which will deliver.
