All of us at The Portpatrick Pad stand with every member of the RNLI especially all of our dear volunteers in Portpatrick at the Portpatrick Lifeboat and Stranraer RNLI Lifeboat 🙏🫶🏻🙏

The RNLI is a charity that exists to save lives at sea. But recent events have generated deliberate misinformation and a misunderstanding about our purpose and our lifesaving work in the Channel.

As a result, some of our volunteers and staff have been the subject of online and, in some cases, physical abuse. This is unacceptable.

The RNLI’s people represent the very best of society. For over two hundred years they have dedicated themselves to rescuing people they’ve never met before, without judgment, fear or favour.

We are tasked by HM Coastguard to help those in distress, and we'll do so whenever, wherever and whoever they are.

We launched 9,058 times in 2025. Only 109 of those launches were to those in distress in the Channel – 1.2% of our total rescue work. Anyone rescued from a small boat by the RNLI is then taken into the care of the relevant UK authorities.

To those who stand with the RNLI, thank you. For more than two hundred years, we've saved lives at sea around the UK and Ireland, and that commitment remains unchanged.

🤍A little Portpatrick secret worth sharing 🤍

If you're staying at The Pad and fancy a proper wander round the village, pop into Little Pomme d'Amour on Main Street: you'll find their gorgeous honesty box tucked just inside the front door...

Fresh baguettes, homemade bakes, and the kind of hand drawn illustrations you'll want to buy six of and keep none of for yourself. Coastal crabs, lobsters, gumballs, kites - all painted with so much charm and style 🫶🏻

No till, no fuss: Morgane's got you... She's got it set up so that no cash means no probs... just cash or bank transfer and the honour system, exactly how it should be. It's proof that the best finds in Portpatrick aren't always the obvious ones 🦞🥖

📍 Little Pomme d'Amour, Main Street, Portpatrick DG9 8JN
🛏️ Just a short stroll from The Portpatrick... go on... treat yourself!

Still searching for a summer escape?

We've got you 🌊

August and September are two of the best months on the Galloway coast: the crowds thin out, the light gets magical, and Portpatrick does what it does best: makes you wonder why you don't come here every year🫶🏻
The Portpatrick Pad is a 3-bedroom coastal holiday let sleeping up to 10 - perfect for families joining forces, a big group of friends, or an 'all ages and stages' trip where everyone actually gets a bed (and a bit of breathing room).

Think harbour walks, fish suppers, kids running free, grown-ups finally relaxing. That kind of holiday...

We still have availability in August and September so drop us a message directly or visit our page on Booking to check dates and get booked up!
🏡🫶🏻We'd love to have you🫶🏻🏡
