Crystal-clear water, dramatic mountain views, and waterfalls that look straight out of a fantasy film — the Fairy Pools absolutely live up to the hype. Nestled beneath the Cuillin Mountains, these pools have become one of Skye’s most iconic spots, and seeing them in person feels almost unreal. ✨

A little history 🌿
The Fairy Pools are fed by streams flowing down from the Black Cuillin mountains. Their name comes from local folklore tied to the “fairy folk” of Scottish mythology, with the ethereal blue water and misty landscapes inspiring legends for centuries. The area has long been part of Skye’s Gaelic heritage and remains one of the wildest and most magical landscapes in Scotland.

🚗 Parking tips:
There’s a dedicated Fairy Pools car park near Glen Brittle, but it fills up FAST in peak season. Arrive early or later in the evening for the best chance of getting a space (and avoiding the crowds). Parking is paid, and the road in can be narrow, so drive carefully.

⏰ Best times to visit:
• Sunrise or early morning = quieter trails + soft golden light
• Late evening = dreamy reflections and fewer people
• Avoid midday in summer if you want peaceful photos
• After rainfall, the waterfalls are even more dramatic 🌧️

🥾 Good to know:
The walk is around 2.4km each way over rocky, uneven ground — waterproof shoes are definitely worth it. Scottish weather changes quickly, so bring layers even if the sun is out.
