Happy New Year to all our guests from around the World. Our new Lodge arrives next week and we are excited to get it furnished and set up in time for the start of the Season at Easter

Our final guests of 2025 have gone home and it was very fitting that they were folks who have been coming to the cottage for 15 years. The cottage will now revert back to a permanent home for our Family and we are delighted and excited to having our grandchildren next door to watch them grow and flourish on the Croft.
A new Brescalan Lodge is being constructed and will be available to rent from March 2026. Small but perfectly formed and all shiny and new, it will sit in the field just the other side of the burn from our house. It will have one double bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge area so will sleep 2 -3 persons and of course it will have the same stunning south west facing views as the cottage has.
It has been wonderful, greeting returning guests over the years and welcoming new guests from all over the world and we look forward to continuing to do so in Brescalan Lodge. We will post photos on the progress of this exciting new project soon

After a busy Winter of renovations and decoration the Cottage is once more ready to welcome this Season’s first guests later today. Looks like they are going to enjoy some fine Spring weather too. The founder of the Staffin Fossil Museum, Dugald Alexander Ross has received an Honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Edinburgh for his preservation of Skye’s Jurassic history and its celebration as the ‘Dinosaur Capital of the UK.’

Dugie has become a renowned palaeontologist and his important discoveries were recognised in 2016 by the presentation of the prestigious Mary Anning Award named after the famous English palaeontologist of the early 19th century.

This latest award of an Honorary Doctorate from Edinburgh University further recognises the very significant contributions Dugie has made to the world of palaeontology and his colleagues, friends, family and community are immensely proud of him.
