The Blueberry Shed

The Blueberry Shed Our self catering property is a single storey, contemporary and comfortable space for two people to enjoy the peace and tranquility of Skye.

The Blueberry Shed is our newly built holiday accommodation, inspired by traditional agricultural sheds, designed by local architects and made on the Isle of Skye. We are located in Braes which is conveniently near to Portree (5 miles) the island’s capital. The Blueberry Shed is a detached property privately situated from our home with easy access and parking.

Hi folks, letting you know that we have taken the tough decision to sell & close The Blueberry Shed and have moved off Skye to pastures new. We've had a great time hosting guests from far & wide for the last six and a half years, met some lovely people. We'd like to thank everyone who visited and who helped to make this a successful business which allowed us to live in this breathtaking part of the UK for a short while.

Time for a new adventure that we are currently contemplating and should we pop up with a new holiday let then I will post a link on here.
Happy Holidays everyone, wherever that may take you this season πŸ˜€β›΅οΈβš“οΈπŸ”πŸ–

(In due course, the new owners of Blueberry Shed may operate a self catering holiday home in the future but that will not be connected with this page.)

Oh dear, we're not having a good summer on Skye for 2022 so here's a clown to cheer us all up :)

Goodness me, after months of dank, wintery weather the island quickly erupts into spring / summer all of a flurry and busy with visitors.

Lovely to see so many Europeans back in Portree and we've had some wonderful Germans, Swiss, Dutch, Brits and New Yorkers visit us so far.

We were lucky enough to grab a day off when it was actually sunny and ride on one of the wildlife cruises out of Portree. It was fabulous and sails down the Sound of Raasay with the house & Blueberry Shed just visible from aboard the Stardust boat.
We saw the seal colony off Raasay, one porpoise, a golden eagle but sadly no white tailed sea eagles or dolphins on the day.

Well recommended though if you get chance, pre book early on the Stardust boat website.

Long time no post but after another busy summer we've only a few nights availability left this season, a couple of nights later this week or a few nights later in the month.
If you fancy an introduction to Skye then a short Autumn break could be just the thing.

We are pretty central for all those dramatic landscapes Skye is famous for. Take a walk on the wild side, wrap up warm, feast on local specialities, or cosy up with a wee dram and the crackle of a log fire.
Look us up on Airbnb for available dates.

Sadly - Flaming June it isn't on Skye, it's a bit grim I have to say as we approach mid-summers day :( Coat, scarf & umbrella weather!
This was my view of The Lump in Portree this morning whilst I was waiting to get vaccinated. The Lump is where they hold the Highland Games and Skye Live Festival, which was actually the last time I was up there in 2019. It looks more like 11pm than 11am, oh dear!
Please come back sunny days.

The 2021 season is underway and the first guests have been and gone. The weather was fab and they had a great time, they sent me these wonderful sunrise pictures which is the view from the Shed. Sunrise is anywhere from 4am in June so you need to get up early, Thanks Matt if you see these :)

We are starting to see a bit of summery weather, at long last! This was a spin out the other day and the view is looking down on Uig. I was watching the ferry leave and head back to Harris, the sheep were also admiring the view :)

We're ringing a few changes here this season and swapping the guests' welcome tray of shortbread for a little Scottish themed snack hamper. As we get quite a few outdoorsy guests who head off into the mountain, I couldn't resist sneaking in some Kendal Mint Cake for the adventurers :)

We're nearing the end of a busy fortnight with our maintenance programme for the Blueberry Shed ahead of welcoming the first guests of 2021 in just 7 days.
We've been painting, cleaning, gardening and getting all the Covid procedures in place again.
We just need to order nice weather and then we're set to go!
