Where did the name Dulse and Brose come from? There’s a little more behind the name than you might have realised.

The name is a nod to the Scottish ingredients and landscapes behind the food we serve.

🌊Dulse is a type of edible seaweed, representing the sea, while brose is a traditional Scottish dish made with oats🥣, representing the land.

Amanda’s local finds are taking us a little further around Skye…

This time, to Loch Shianta (also often written as Loch Sheanta), a small freshwater loch in the north of the island with a fascinating story attached to it.🧚‍♀️

Beside the loch is Tobar Loch Shianta, a holy well that was historically regarded as the most celebrated healing well on Skye. For centuries, people visited the spring believing its water had healing properties, with old accounts also recording some of the rituals and traditions associated with a visit.

As with all of our local finds, please visit respectfully and leave this special place exactly as you found it.
